Knowing that major member(s) of this forum owns also the EGreat M34A and that they are working on FW mods made me start this topic.
I got this fabulus unit (for 30 bucks more than I got WDTV) a week ago, very happy with it, WDTV went to sleep now (very sorry for this but for Greek users there is no support and no FW update since last Christmas, so there are many issues with the only one working 1.01.02 FW).

Waiting just for some improvement of appearance of menus mod for EGreat (functional I have no issue at all! I can't believe this! ;) )
So I hope that a new forum about this new little machine will be made from people here, and I'm waiting for the link!

Thank you

How are you enjoying the Egreat?  any problems/ observations?

WDTV LIVE with current official FW > HDMI > DVDO > Sony CRT Projector 150" 16/9 screen.  Toslink audio to Yamaha DTS receiver. No Network set up yet.

eGREAT is past - becouse is based on SMP 8635 if I will buy new device today I will look for any based on SMP865x/8642 like PCH C-200
reason is simple 8635 is old chip with many limits /codec or CPU speed/

anyway eGreat is nice but too late on market

3dxr,

What are some advantages with the new 865x chip?

for example CPU speed - WDTV has 300mhz and 865x has 500mhz and this speed is required for example
for copy over network or more programs /processes running at background or faster thumnail direcotry loading

500mhz you will see and feel compared with 300mhz mips cpu

I forgot SATA and 2x Network support on SMP 8652 chipset HDMI 1.3a  simultanous Analog and Digital output for audio
market segment for 865x is IPTV or NetworkMedia Players
Smartcard support and DDR-2 memory and PCI support
