Surely something can be done to stop the SPAM.  This is very irritating.  Surely a higher security on signing up would help.

Or maybe new users shouldn't be able to post at all or limited to a single post until they are upgraded. I don't how these guys are posting umpteen messages because when I was sending Jay spam reports, I was constantly being told that I had posted in the last 60 seconds and wasn't permitted to post until more time had passed. Maybe there could some sort of filter for Cyrillic characters as the majority of the spam seems to be Russian in origin.

It is getting out of hand!  I am looking into it.  There is a server upgrade for the database and underlying forum software but I risk losing all custom mods once I do it so I need to wait till I have a couple days free.  I am now looking into signup security though!

do as I do, report the hell out of them. it doesn't stop them but it slows them down, I know Jay is working on it but we all have to help him out.
spam if a fact of life unfortunately, if we're all proactive it will help, yes a better solution has to be found, until then it's up to everybody to report it to keep it to a minimum.

Jay,

How would you like them reported?  Can we name and shame them?  Call them out in threads?  Heap scorn and ridicule when they are spotted?  What fun will you allow us?

curious  ;)

click on "Report to moderator" at the bottom of the offending post so the moderators will get notification of it..

if you post about it, that will likely get deleted too, then there's the possibility your post could be missed for a day or 2 as everyone likely has a real life outside of here..
