I have the following file:

  Video Track:
    Track Number: 1
    Codec: V_MPEG4/ISO/AVC
    Pixel Resolution: 1280x532
    Aspect ratio: 2,41
    Display Resolution: 1280x532
    Frames per second: 23,976
  Audio Track #1
    Track Number: 2
    Codec: A_AC3
    Language: eng
    SampleRate: 48000
    Channels: 6

I tried to demux the file with AVI-Mux and convert the audio file with ac3tool but it's not working. Can anyone tell me how and with what programs I can convert this file?

Your help is very appreciated.

This *might* work:

mencoder input.mkv -ovc copy -oac mp3lame -lameopts cbr:br=128 -channels 2 -o output.mkv

That should downmix your audio to 2chan mp3.. use mencoder -oac help (I think) to list the different audio encoder options.

Obviously you'll need mencoder. If you're on Ubuntu or something, it's as easy as sudo apt-get install mencoder.
