Can WD TV live play back MKV (From Blu-ray ) backups?

I am thinking of buying a WD TV. The key is going to whether this player can play back MKV backups i have made of my Bluray drives. I have a bundle of blu ray discs ,The idea being i don't have to lug the discs all over the house...have them lying around and get scratched.

What i have done is..backed up the blu ray disc losslessly using ByteCopy and it came to be a mkv format . I choose MKV as output cause everything's the same with original blu-ray disc,ie., lossless quality, multiple subtitles and audio languages, chapter markers and all the meta data. I play them in window media player (with Shark007 codec pack) on my PC. They worked like a charm .

Could someone help to test the following MKV files (only a clip of mkv movies)on WDTV and gives me a result ,Thanks a lot

http://206.225.92.101/sample/Anniversary_Concert_1_2.mkv
http://206.225.92.101/sample/Spider_Man_1.mkv
http://206.225.92.101/sample/The_Boondock_Saints_1_0_0.mkv

So what i want to know is whether this WDTV device will recognise those MKV files and play them back without me having to do anything else.

Help on getting this clarified would be greatly appreciated !!

Hi,I have just tested the MKV files on my WDTV Live Plus

Anniversary Concert,Spider Man,The Boondock Saints work fine except for Toy Story 3. As you mentioned,I can adjust the audios and subs, skip the chapters of these MKV films on my WD TV. Your MKV format really makes me a surprise.

Toy Story 3 Seems to work but all I have are 2 commentary tracks, no actual english track to listen to to make sure audio syncs with video correctly. Moreover, subtiltes can't display.

Mkv maybe the best way for blu-ray backup. Iím ripping all my blu-rays to mkv with bytecopy, all mkv files play fine on my wdtv live. I like that I can select chapters
