Hi All,

Just bought a WDTV due to this GREAT Forum !
It's a great media center , just lacking DTS audio ....
Does anybody knows if it's finally supported ?

PS : I believe that the MKV without sound are the ones with DTS Audio ...

Thanks all
Pol

DTS is not supported and will not be supported for this product ! See also :

You can use a program called mediainfo to see details on media-files.

I think I'm experiencing a bug with the IR remote with the latest beta FW. My WDTV would not respond to my remote and when it does it would skip through several menu as if it was pressed several times. I read from another forum of what was believed to be a problem mainly with Samsung LCD TV and specifically with its Energy Saving feature. From the thread, it was concluded that when we have this feature ON it would somehow create the remote bug. I first encountered this bug with the 1.02.03 FW. One of the user who had similar problem posted an alternative method by placing a black tape (or a solid color tape) between the Power and USB indicator on the WDTV. But, I chose to turn off the ES feature instead to solve the problem. Then, a couple of days ago I upgraded to 1.02.08 and this bug appeared again, however, I wasn't using the ES feature. I tried the tape solution but later decided to revert back to 1.02.08. Hope the WD team figure out how to deal with this bug since I know I'm not the only one with this problem.

That was a cross-post.  See http://wdtvforum.com/main/index.php?topic=883 if you want to respond, so that we don't end up having two threads responding to the same guy about the same problem.

I have 2 Iomega MiniMax drives which can be used as hubs. I have one drive plugged into the WDTV and the other drive plugged into the first drive. With the 07 firmware, the WDTV recognized both drives on the same port and I was able to select between them (through the folder menu the USB1 port would show, then the 2 different drives from there). Now with the 08 firmware it only recognizes one drive, and it's usually a random one, doesn't matter which one is plugged directly in, but I can't access both drives at the same time like I was able to before.
Has anyone else had any issues with hubs on this new firmware?

Yes, some people have reported that usb hubs are broken in 1.02.08, although I have seen talk that they were never officially supported anyway.

It doesn't like large mpeg2 files. Don't know what the cut off point is but F1 and MotoGP that I record in mpg2 can be as large as 30 or 40GB. After playing for awhile Fast Forwarding becomes unusable where the time counter doesn't reflect where you will end up when you press play again and strangely you can loose the commentary track and only have the car or bike sounds. But short half hour TV shows, typically 2 or 3GB have no problem.

Mine plays the VOB files no problem.  What is your issue with the VIDEO_TS folder?  Just play the first file that appears in the folder.  Also, make sure you don't get rid of the file structure (AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders) or you will sometimes experience audio issues.  Don't know why, but I was trying to simplify the number of folders I had to click through and put all the VOB/IFO files under my movie folder and delete the AUDIO_TS folder and the WDTV didn't like that at all.

that has nothing to do with the question from ispkmyk. :)

he is asking for normal dvd-structure parsing. not playing vobs directly. try playing movies with multiangle or seamless branching... they will look funny, when you only play the vobs without a parsing info through ifos.

so i beg, that the WDTV will get native dvd-structure support. that would make this thing perfect. i miss this feature so much :(

Change log:

This is a prerelease version of the firmware. Feel free to install it but be aware this is beta firmware so use it at your own risk. If you are not comfortable with this, please wait for the final version.

Bugs fixed in 1.02.08:
-Some characters still missing from Greek font
-VC-1 MKVs playback poorly
-Audio out of sync during MKV playback
-10 Minute FF and REV doesn't work during MKV playback
-Audio clipping issues

It is the prerelease. 1.02.07 is still the official fw.

I think I found a bug.

Whenever I plug my HDD into the WD TV, some tracks show up more than once. The two folders affected were Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band, and Guns N' Roses. Both have ' in their folder name, so I'm going to see if removing that prevents the songs from showing up many times in the library.
