hey,
can the wd tv live play movies with 23,976 fps and is the auto resulotion working?
i'm asking because i already use the wd tv and it can't play 23,976. so this is the only reason for me to buy the new wd tv live.
thx

I'm not sure what you mean by the "auto resolution".

None of the stock WD firmwares will set the device output to match the file being played back.  That feature is only available in third-party firmware/addons.

On a stock WDTV, if you select "Auto" then the TV will tell the WDTV during the EDID handshake what is the best setting for resolution that the TV will handle, and then the WDTV will stay set to that, and adjust playback to match.

It doesn't negotiate a new resolution/frame rate for each file played.

Now, on the other hand, there seem to be a few remaining HDMI bugs, and the TV doesn't always report it's best capabilities, and the WDTV doesn't always remember what it's been told to output.

ok, thx for your answer. and where can i get such firmware?

and what about the 23,976 frames? because when you set 24 fps the movie stutter all 41 seconds. and the old wd tv can't playback at 23,976 fps. so that the only reason for me to buy the wd tv live.

I don't think the custom firmware with auto-res enabled can even play at 23.**...It simply plays at 24, 50 or 60.  But Auto-res is still better than the auto feature of the WDTV.

I think some of the older WD firmwares like 1.01.17 had the 23.976 as and option but you had to set it yourself the newer firmware doesn't list it as an option the closes thing would be 24fps

thats really bad!
so you have all 40 seconds a judder. because movies are filmed with 23,976 fps.
so i've to look out for the old Western Digital WDBABG0000NBK TV HD Media Player, becuase it can do native 23,976 fps at all.

23.976 or 24 FPS I don't think you will notice a difference.

I can't but my old eyes aren't that keen anymore LOL  So maybe you will.
