Hi there,

I'm wondering why the WDTV Box with B-Rad Firmware is not capable of doing more than approx. 40-60mbit/s via NFS and 15mbit/s via CIFS. I've did some testing and my speeds are

  - NFS: 48mbit/s
  - CIFS: 15mbit/s

I'm using latest firmware (1.02.07) with Belkin's USB Gigabit adapter. I've tested the adapter on a windows system and I'm getting 130 mbit/s on the same CIFS drive over the same ethernet cable I'm used to get 15mbit/s via wdtv box.

So I'm wondering if the wdtv itself is the bottleneck (e.g. cpu which limits the transfer) or if the driver for the belkin is?

Anyone got an idea?

ya the cpu is not up to the job
:)
still pretty fair speeds you are getting
some people have had some luck with adjusting mtu and rsize and that sort of thing
and also tcp vs udp.
but you have pretty good speed
i havnt seen anyone go above 64

Hmmm, ok. Would also explain the high cpu load (2.0 and above) when doing simple "cat ##movie## > /dev/null".

You're perfectly right - of course movie is something on a network share.

tune your buffers on both sides

and check the wiki and user xmount search string here you will find many threads about NFS mounting
