From Scott at Western Digital:

As promised, I am going to release the new WD TV 1.02 firmware to you first! I am arranging a link to provide to you prior to releasing it to the general public on WD's website. I will have it worked out very soon.

Here is a bit more information to share about the upcoming release!

What’s new?

- Enhanced cover art, album art, and thumbnail support for media files and folders
- Additional subtitle languages and decoding support
- Improved media playback and navigation
- Added more audio formats for MKV container
- Fixed several bugs that were reported by the WD TV user community!

More information later...

-ScottWD

I forgot to mention... As I did in our previous update I have included some special unannounced bonus features. I look forward to the uncover operations and hack fests!

For you people hitting F5 the update will not be released this evening. I will keep everyone posted.

Just add him and he will get an email to grant your request.

By the way... ScottWD wrote about secret/hidden additions in the new firmware - he wrote that about the last update, too. Did anyone find these enhancements in the old firmware???

As a new member/owner - I must say I was very disappointed to hear that all of my mpeg files won't work with thumbnails and the only way for this to work is to convert my files to mp4.  I have tried this and do not like the video quality or the hours it takes to convert a single file.  Please tell me that this feature will include the ability to add thumbnails to my movie files.
