tried tu update to 1.02.21_B-RAD.CC_EXT3-BOOT_LIVE-0.4.2.1 to try and get plugins working and now it freezes at boot up. when I unplug and replug it will either say go get recovery firmware or it will start the firmware update for 1.02.21_B-RAD.CC_EXT3-BOOT_LIVE-0.4.2.1 but stop at 1%

I had a similar problem a while back.  Leave the stick in for a while (1 hour or more).  It may kick in.  It has for me that one time.
