Hi

I'm using the WDLXTV-0.5.2 firmware.

I have some problems playing movies (both through ethernet and on a usb harddrive).

When I have watched one movie (or if i use the back-button in the middle of a movie) - then i cannot resume watching the movie or watch another movie.

I'm either told "unable to load" - or the screen just shows the last movie-frame i watched (like the picture is frozen).

The only thing i can to at that time is - pull the plug and restart the machine.

I have looked through the forum but can't seem to find anything to help with this problem - hope you can help me in the right direction ;)

Regards

Go to an earlier firmware so you can see if it's a firmware or hardware issue
Also check your HD (chkdsk if you are a winuser) to make sure everything is right on that side.

Cheers

Hi,

does this happen with any movie or did you just use the same type of movies (formats)?

I cannot say anything to why this happens, just that I also had this problem with a very old AVI movie (some old divx format). Every time I played it the movie itself worked, but any try to play something else after wards failed with the same error message.

ciao,
elm

As far as i know its any king - i have tried with: avi, mkv and iso - and all whith the same problem.

And i have tried with two different usb harddrives and my Synology NAS - so i think i can also rule out hardware issue.

But i will try and earlier firmware.

do you have network shares using net.mounts?

mine locks up frequently using them, I have to use the webserver app by disco.
only thing is I have to redo them after every time the wdtv reboots, they wont stick using wdlxtv firmware.

Yep i use the net.mounts - but i'll give the webserver app a try if that works for you - will that work with WDLXTV - or do I have to use ext3-boot

(But like i said i also have this problem using an ordinary usb-stick or harddrive) - I have just installed the official firmware and are now watching a movie to see if it works with that.

works well with wdlxtv.
once mine messes up it wont play anything from USB locally or any network stuff

I commented out (#) all the lines in net.mounts and use the webserver app.
it has been on for about 3 days straight with no issues now and we have tried hard to get it to stop again and it hasn't.

it's worth a try, if it fixes your issue all the better.

I've done a lot of little tweaks and believe I've fixed this issue. Haven't been able to reproduce the freezing all night, locally or via nfs :D Please let me know if this solves things for you.

@rev drew: please get my attention if you ever notice serious issues like this again :)

mines been going strong & constant since last night...~18hrs consisting of ~100 different videos on loop from my NFS. I did coincidentally do a factory reset sometime yesterday evening to see if that affected things, you might try that...I've been trying to get it to crash since i flashed 0.5.3 and cannot, even when my NFS pisses out briefly...the wdtv still recovers.

okay, I reloaded it once again and then did a factory reset. I have just re enabled the net.mounts shares and rebooted it.
I will try again and see tomorrow how it's going.

Thanks for the reset suggestion, that could be it.
