They have released 4 or 5 Beta releases.  Until they iron out the problems they set out to fix, they won't release a final FW.  I would think it will be soon though.  Most problems (if not all) have been fixed.
Windows 7 Ultimate with SP1
WDTV Live
1.02.21 WDLXTV 0.5.1.4 (Beta)
Linksys - WUSB600N USB Adapter
DLink - Dir-655 Router
Atheros - AR8131 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.20)
XBMC - The Future of Television

well... I know about the betas but I want one that is official and final release... I have not paid for product to use it with beta software. Next time when buying a WD product I will consider paying with BETA money... let's see how it works out.

@ Sparxxx

Patience is a virtue my friend.  No use releasing something that is not 100% working.  There will be more ppl Peed off at that than there are now waiting for a final release.  They are doing the right thing by not rushing a half-ass fix.

100 % true.  At least they didn't forget about us WD Live owners now that they have release a new hardware.
Besides, having customers using beta versions will help the developers discovering as much errors as possible and deliver a better product.

Is the official firmware going to address the problem of playing mkv files with compressed headers?  My device won't play them and ultimately forces me to restore the WD live to factory settings.

Since the betas do, I can't see them taking it back out when it's released as a final.

For now you can always run your faulty MKV files through MKVMerge to fix the compression header problems.  No more reseting to factory when it stops working.

Just downloaded the .42 file and will test it with the header compression issue.  BTW, you just replace the version # from the previous link if you want the newest file:

http://download.wdc.com/wdtv/wdtvlive_1.03.42_V.zip

I tried 43 but there was none. ;)

I'm having problem s playing Blueray over network share. Maybe I'm doing something wrong since this is the first time I'm doing this.
I start the iso and it says wdtv live has problems with menus. then it starts with wheel.
I knew of problems of long time starting, but i thought it was solved with new firmware releases.

can you help?

Moved from 1.02.21 to 1.03.40 - after I experienced problems with sound (in DTS 2.0 output there is noise, so loud, that I can,t hear almost nothing else) and after some on/off cycles, my WDTV Live don't want to turn on - started with WD logo, and then show me "No video signal", only factory reset button helps, and then not with first time. But now mp4 files are working.  :)
Then moved to 1.03.43, problem with sound still are, but WDTV for some hours worked fine, without hung up. For time moved back to 1.02.21.

TV Philips PFL327403D with hdmi connection.

How yours experience with sound over integrate DTS 2.0 decoder?
