Hi guys,
i have since today my WD Live HD and i have a problem.
If i have Audio setting at "Stereo" i have audio on my TV with HDMI.
But if i choose "Digital" not... why ??? HDMI is digital. And my DVD player has 5.1 sound with HDMI.
Do i have to buy a optical SPDIF cable ?? Is that sie only way to have 5.1 sound ??
That is crazy.... or do i make a mistake ?

greetings from Germany.... Caracal

edit. tomorrow i will get my Onkyo AV-Receiver thats the reason i ask that. or can the AV-Receiver get 5.1 over HDMI and only the TV not ?!

I know it doesn't make sense but wd settings mean the following:
sterio = wdtvlive decodes audio
digital = wdtvlive passes through the audio

so if you plug in directly to a tv you only have 2ch sound and no decoding unless you have the decoding done by wdtvlive

tomorrow you pick up your onkyo av receiver, much better to let the receiver decode the audio,
switch the settings to digital and your receiver will decoding and you'll have sound
