It would be nice to add DTS downmix in the next firmware update, because people is not always using their AV Receiver, so we can watch movies with DTS sound with only the TV set.

As noted in several other threads, it is not possible for the WDTV to do DTS decoding.  It requires an expensive license and special hardware.  Passing it through to your receiver to decode is the only option.

The hardware should handle the decoding just fine. It's the licensing costs indeed.

this is the great disavantage of wdtv ... lack of dts downmix to stereo


and it's a LIE "the current product is not capable of decoding DTS and require another chipset"
it's only license and software problem

we have to put hand by hand money and pay a hacker to do that

I think we can lay this thread to rest since its been said here http://wdtv.uservoice.com/ that "the current product is not capable of decoding DTS...."

So it doesn't matter wether it is a lie or not. DTS-Decoding to stereo is not going to happen with this release of the WDTV.
