Hi All,

Total Noob to all of this networking but wondering if someone can help me out.  I have just bought the Buffalo Linkstation LS-CL 1 TB NAS drive with the idea of setting up a network to this and being able to connect my WDTV to this network.  So far, the LinkStation network is all working fine and I can see on all of my computers over the wireless network.

Having gone through this forum and seen some of the posts, I have flashed b-rad's WDLXTV 0.5.2 version to my WDTV.

Next, I wanted to connect my WDTV to the network so I bought a Buffalo USB 2.0 LAN adapter (LUA2-U2-KGT) for the connection. However, when I connect this to my WDTV, no light is coming on the adapter and I don't see any IP address in the About section.

Does anyone have any ideas on what could be wrong?  Does there need to be some kind of driver for the adapter installed somewhere?

Any help that you could give is greatly appreciated.

hi moustique/peibl,

I've looked at your logs, but they don't tell me much I'm sorry to say.  Embarrassed

Perhaps you can try my current setup. I've using Zorander's ext3-0.9.2 package with my updated wireless-mod... -> http://www.mediafire.com/file/rzdydjcyetj/wireless-mod.app-rt2870.zip

Unzip to the root of your usb key. You should have the following files:
/RT2870STA.dat
/wireless-mod.app.bin
/<your wpa_supplicant.conf>
/wpa/wpa_cli
/wpa/wpa_passphrase
/wpa/wpa_supplicant

and add the following to your net.config

Quote
HOST=wdtv
/boot/wpa/wpa_supplicant -B -Dralink -i$MDEV -c/boot/wpa_supplicant.conf
DHCP=yes

This uses the latest ralink drivers (v2.1.1.0) and wpa_supplicant (v0.6.9). I couldn't get the current version to work with my WPA2/AES setup.

Good luck!

note: this is the full list of devices supported in this driver:

Hi, I have the same problem as what you had before. Could you please tell me how you made your dongle work? Is it possible to show me your configuration? Thanks in advance.

1. Is the 0.0.3 the latest version avaiable? If yes, from where? Can you update the start post of this thread?

2. My WDTV with your excellent ext-boot 0.9.2 and the wilress-mod 0.0.3 worked in wifi for some weeks. Every some hours (max 6) the Wifi crash and I must reboot (detach from electric current and reattach).

Yesterday evening, another crash. The pen is full working. My Pc has been able to work with torrent client and amule client for 96 hours with it, so the pen is actually working.
BUT now, even after a new flash of 0.92 ext3, wdtv is NOT ABLE TO CONNECT TO MY LAN via Wifi. Why?

My net.config is unchanged:
Code:
# Network configuration file

ifconfig $MDEV up
iwconfig $MDEV essid OpenWrtWiFi

HOST=wdtv

#DHCP=yes

DHCP=no
IP=192.168.0.6
GW=192.168.0.1
NM=255.255.255.0
DNS1=81.29.230.1
DNS2=81.29.230.5

NTP=pool.ntp.org

My WiFi name is correct, IPs also are right. Why WDTV can't no more connect to WiFi? Why? ;( Now I must buy a usb-lan adapter ...

Does anyone have a Dlink DWL-G122 rev C1 working with WDLXTV 0.5.2?

My WDTV simply doesn't want to connect to my open access WiFi router.  The LEDs flash every 5 seconds or so but no IP is listed in the About screen.

What should my net.config file look like and do I need to make any other changes?

Hi all

I'm trying to set up my WDTV with my Belkin Wireless G USB Adapter and have come around some problems. I have ext-boot 0.9.2 and the wilress-mod 0.0.3 installed after a lot of playing about with wpa_supplicant.conf and net.config I deiced to give up and try and get some help from the professionals. I have a number of logs below are the most recent, the USB Adapter seems to be active as I have a flashing green light but it can not connect to my WPA network. Any help would be amazing thanks guys.

Try moving sleep 5 before udhcp and try logging udhcpc call:

udhcpc -H wdtv -i rausb0 > /boot/log.txt

I have the same dongle and, at least for me, it associates to WPA encrypted networks only. I had no success on WEP or open networks.

For the DWA-140 (or any rt2870-based thing), I've updated the Wiki-Page with instructions.

See http://wiki.wdtv.org/doku.php?id=usb_wireless_dongles_table_page

After some paying about I think that I have got a bit closer to connection. My WPA.TXT now looks like this

Code:
Initializing interface 'rausb0' conf '/boot/wpa_supplicant.conf' driver 'wext' ctrl_interface 'N/A' bridge 'N/A'
Configuration file '/boot/wpa_supplicant.conf' -> '/boot/wpa_supplicant.conf'
Reading configuration file '/boot/wpa_supplicant.conf'
Priority group 0
   id=0 ssid='2MISWELLS_REPEAT'
Initializing interface (2) 'rausb0'
EAPOL: SUPP_PAE entering state DISCONNECTED
EAPOL: KEY_RX entering state NO_KEY_RECEIVE

It looks like it's finding and talking to the router but then having problems after that. Can any one explain to me what's going on here?

Does anyone have a Dlink DWL-G122 rev C1 working with WDLXTV 0.5.2?
I have the same dongle and, at least for me, it associates to WPA encrypted networks only. I had no success on WEP or open networks.
I gather from scanning this thread that the EXT3-boot 0.9.1 firmware with 0.3 wireless-mod.app.bin is currently the only reliable way to get a D-Link DWL-G122 working with the WDTV with an open WiFi network.  Correct?

I've flashed to WDlxTV - can I still use the EXT3-Boot firmware?
