I possibly misunderstand what can be done with the custom firmware, but is there a chance that someone who is working on the custom firmware could make the changes necessary to support DVD menus on the wdtv live?

Good question...  I guess I'm thinking of a case where I rip my DVD using the VIDEO_TS structure.  The DVD has extras, or in the case of a TV show it has multiple episodes...  Anyway, right now there is no way to have the player actually play just the movie, or play a particular 'extra' or play a particular episode.  It appears that the player just starts playing "vob" files in alphabetical order.  If you always convert movies to mkv or something, that all might not be obvious.

No,

I am afraid that AFAIK this is not possible.
WDTV LIVE with current official FW > HDMI > DVDO > Sony CRT Projector 150" 16/9 screen.  Toslink audio to Yamaha DTS receiver. No Network set up yet.

not full dvd menu support, but some list where u can select vob should be doable with wdtvext.
