I did quite a lot of searching, but I didn't find an answer to this question regarding WDTV Live:
Can you play a MKV/DTS file with HDMI cable connected with TV that do not support DTS decoding? I dont't care which type of sound I would get; HD, dolby, 5.1, 2.1,... I just want TV speakers to produce sound.

With WDTV and DTS audio only option is optical connection to DTS decoder/system/home-theater. Is there any other option with WDTV-Live that can be used with digital audio?

The WDTV Live can decode the DTS signal to a 2-channel (stereo) signal. This stereo signal is then send over the HDMI cable to your TV.
