This happens 20% of the time. It seems the WD TV LIVE stops receiving network broadcasts and is unable to 'see' other computers on the network. I typically warm boot the unit and then it starts working after 15 minutes. This really sucks. It seems to have started after the last (latest) firmware update.

Hello

It seems that I am having the exact same problem. I first got the unit yesterday and updated it right away to .17 firmware version[via internet]. Today i had to power cycle the unit because it was not accesible, then I find out that the network share icon is insensitive to comands. I update the firmware again [via internet] to x.24 version. Problem still persists.
Please help

THank you

Hi again

Last night, before signaling this problem to you guys I had just assigned a static Ip to to wdtv. Then, i noticed the problem. Before going to sleep I had removed the static ip, allowing the wdtv to automatically connect to the network. This morning everything seemed to be ok. Then I changed back to static [i would like to map the usb drive connected to the live so i need static ip]and it again, does not work...I will keep you posted if i find anything else interesting

This sounds like a master browser problem (especially if you CAN access the shares after waiting some  time, like you said).

If you're on the homebrew/custom firmware, add this line to your WDTV's smb.conf:

local master    = no

Then ftp it to the /conf directory and reboot.

(I know this subforum is for 'official firmware', but I don't think you can fix this with the 'official firmware', so I thought I'd share my solution anyway).
