a few ppl asked me so i found some spare time to patch dmaosd and add more subtitles font sizes to settings. i;ve used 1.02.07 from wd as base. there was already 24,28,32,36, and 40 sizes. i;ve added 44,48,52,56,60,64,68,72,76 and 80. can be usefull especially for asian wdtv owners who need bigger fonts to read symbols. u can get it here:

http://www.mediafire.com/?14mdw5t1ydh

sorry, had to remove subtitle font preview coz it was overlaying on font settings, hope it;s not a big deal for u ;P

btw: this is simple patch of orginal 1.02.07 fw from wd, if u use unofficial wdlxtv or ext3-boot use config_tool -c SUBTITLE_FONT_SIZE='x' instead (where x is font size u want to set).

Would it be possible to increase the font size of audio titles when in the audio (as opposed to video) mode?

Well done rezmus!  :o

Thanks!

Can you please tell us how you did it, which files and what you have changed?

Would it be possible to make the subtitle font bold, too?

like i said i;ve patched /bin/dmaosd binary, there;s a table for each setting with 2 addresses, which point to option name and value (both little endian and u need to xor them with 0x40000000 to get location in dmaosd). so i found some spare space for more font sizes values and add them to font size table. compare my dmaosd file with orginal for details. i;ve also disabled font preview in /osd/subtitle.xml coz it was overlaying on extra font sizes. we can turn it on back but i would need to move up whole settings table a little bit.

about the bold thing, i will c what we can do. seems all subtitle stuff is done by MediaLogic bin.

Rezmus:  Further on my need for large font sizes for audio files.  As I reported earlier in this forum (in another thread) I use my WDTV strictly for playing flac-encoded music files.  Rather than use a large television screen as my display, I use a portable DVD player's screen.  The titles of my music as they appear on that are therefore almost too small to read.  For me, much of the WDTV screen display area is wasted space.  It would be much appreciated if you or another similarly-skilled programmer can specifically provide me the area of code-change I would need to modify.  In past years I have worked a bit in Linux.  Is this a Linux modification?  Many thanks for any help you can render me.  Regards, Jim

Ok, thanks for your effort, and I'm hoping that something can be done regarding BOLD fonts.

Thank you! Seems to be a very easy and straight forward improvement. I just wonder why it takes so long to WD team to make it official........ ???

i think it;s planned in official rls with other subs customization (color, position, etc). they should really do it coz font size patch fw was downloaded 1000+ times so i think many ppl interested in such feature. btw: in fw 1.01.0x subs were displayed by dmaosd, subtitle.xml was active and give us ability to change subs color, position, etc. since 1.02.00 they moved the code to MediaLogic (probably to fix sync) and since then all is hardcoded in this binary.

great work rezmus.
Hoping you can figure out the way to change font color as well as adjusting a bit the outline of font.
The current bold outline is abit to blocky.

Thanks.
