jade, do you need to play mkv files from network shares/server?

It's broken with the beta(takes up to several minutes to start playing)

If you go to the thread below and scroll to near the bottom of the first post, there's a link that says "mirror of all releases".
You can find what you're looking for in there.

You can download the latest update from their website or use the internal updater.

There was a buggy beta which is not the latest update.
If you think there is something wrong with your WD device contact them and then act upon that: Either wait or move on - don't whine here - this is not WD's board. If you have a problem, start a thread and ask - perhaps someone knows the answer.

pre-release firmware  wdtvlive_1_02_14.zip in :
http://www.megafileupload.com/en/file/2028...-02-14-zip.html
or
http://rapidshare.com/files/360083417/wdtvlive_1_02_14.zip

For me, it's working until now (2 weeks). No bug, nothing wrong, at least for what I'm using for.
Enjoy.

Great features and all but ... how about giving us HD YouTube back, since you silently removed it in current release?

Here is the latest update:
  • Final Upgrade (Not Beta); coming soon
  • Beta with MKV issue fixed: Coming soon
  • Status Update from WD Team: Coming soon

How do you define "Coming soon": Please ask ScottWD or his Colleagues

yea, sad isn't it? I honestly think it would've been better if WD never even made the effort to get us involved. They were really on the right track and the BAM! EPIC FAIL! again... If WD at least kept us in the loop, people would be a lot more understanding. Lets hope tomorrow is a good news day....

Not going to happen, its a license thing.

Pretty sure this IS the protest thread. I don't really fault Scott or any of the other WD employees on this thread for the issues. I fault WD the company because they decided to enter a business area where they really don't care if they make it or not. Hard drives are WD's bread and butter and that probably won't change any time soon. Hopefully someone over there at the WD TV group will have the balls to stand up to corporate and say "Hey, we potentially have a winning product here! Lets put a few extra people on this and make some REAL money!" Until that happens, I think its a lost cause.  :(

Ok so i guess the next question is how do we turn our complaints up to 11? should we all return our wd tv lives at once? maybe start a nation wide return until they yield? Any ideas?

The complaints end now.  WD was KIND ENOUGH to put up this beta release for some people to try.  All the complaints will do is END their involvement in helping the mod community and END their dialog with the end users.  This update specifically stated that is was a beta primarily for users of Win 7 and users of specific previously unsupported wireless dongles.

Most everyone who uses the WDTV Live is very happy with it.  But a few vocal detractors whining will only drive WD away.  Do you see what whining endlessly about DVD menu support succeeded in? NOTHING.  Because WD is doing EVERYTHING that they can do, within reason, to provide a better product.

If you don't have a CONSTRUCTIVE input then please leave.

WDTV LIVE with current official FW > HDMI > DVDO > Sony CRT Projector 150" 16/9 screen.  Toslink audio to Yamaha DTS receiver. No Network set up yet.
