Guys, Do I need to update to the latest original firmware before I use this or can I go from Brad's 3.4 firmware to this?

I'm something doing wrong with the usb-power option. After I enabled both settings, my usb-drive isn't accessible anymore :(
When I delete the last 2 entries from the /conf/config file, it is accessible again.
Can somebody tell me what those settings exactly are and how I'm supposed to use them? I thought it would shut down my usb-hdd when powering off my WD TV Live...

@frankie-boy: Same here - you're not alone.
Has anyone got this usb-power option working?

Has anyone got this usb-power option working?

I used

config_tool -c ETH_UP_ACTION00='usb.power.on && sleep 5 && resume'
config_tool -c ETH_DOWN_ACTION9999='suspend && sleep 2 && usb.power.off'

It is working fine. When I put wdtvlive to sleep, disk is unmounted and powered off. When I press power on remote again, wdtvlive wakes up and disk is mounted again (NTFS).

Did you enable anything else, to get this working?

This killed my unit. USB ports have no power now. Can't even recognize the thumb drive.
Reset fixed it though.

0.4.x lenny plzzzz ;)

btw:

Code: [Select]
/sbin/usb.power.off and /sbin/usb.power.on turn off/on usb bus power (thx pibos)
maybe we should change dmaosd to send usb power command to our device, so we can control it via setting (should became handy with upcomming wdtvext gui settings support).

Things have gotten a bit convoluted in the library situation. I am working on it, but there won't be a new lenny--in anticipation of the squeeze-wdlxtv-live that I'm almost done with. I'm going to post an ext3-boot-live test image for intrepid folks to play with and tell me if anything is broke, because a lot had/has to be changed.

--edit-- however you can upgrade your lenny to the most recent version of wdlxtv-live by md5sum'ing all the files in the latest version, then using that md5 file to check all your lenny files....probably ignoring /lib and /usr/lib because I've moved things around there. If a file fails or is missing, then copy it over / diff it....grep -v all the 'OK' files.

I'll see about whipping up something for /proc so that I can catch the 'usb power xxx' messages and relay them to /proc/led when they happen, if its enabled. Much more elegant solution that shutting off power to usb bus anytime interface goes down ;D

Now to see how much work it'll be to integrate 1.02.14...

well with such a detailed report telling me exactly what you'd like me to 'fix' I think the answer is no.
