Hi all
I'm rather satisfied with my new WDTV Live; I have connected it using a wired lan to my Win7 PC, and I can enjoy my avi and mkv videos, mp3 music and photos (some sharing problems at the beginning, but following instructions found in posts, now it all works fine - except for some strange situations, when I have to restart the WDTV unplugging the power cable).
Being curious about the possibilities given by unofficial firmware, I've installed a Brad customization, and tried some interesting functions (remote view, webfrontend, etc)
What I would like to have on my WDTV is the possibility to extend the desktop of a PC connected to my home LAN to my TV (in other words, to capture the screen and stream it to the WDTV).
In the last two nights I've made two or three experiments with free/demo programs and/or windows components, but with no success....
The idea was to capture screen using the "UScreenCapture" Screen Capture DirectShow Source Filter by UnrealStreaming (the readme says that "Any Windows application that works with video sources will pick this filter up and work with it: [...] Streaming servers [Windows Media Encoder, Unreal Media Server, VideoLan etc]") or using Windows Media Encoder.
The problem seems to be (I'm not so expert in media streaming) in the following step: how can I stream the captured screen to my WDTV?
Can anybody give me some hint on this? if possible, I would like to use free sw ... :-)

Thanks

You might be able to get VLC to pick the filter and stream it further.
I would need to try as well for Dvb-t received streams to a laptop and stream further.
Also check UMSP for receiving options

not so easy I'd think though :-)
