I've upgraded to 0.5.3, but none of my .app.bin will load :-(

/tmp/messages.txt contains this :

Dec 31 16:00:44 WDTV-71c3c user.notice root: xmount.scan: Will not mount /dev/sda1 (ext3)
[...]
Dec 31 16:00:46 WDTV-71c3c user.notice root: dropbear-ssh app found
Dec 31 16:00:46 WDTV-71c3c user.notice root: Mounting /tmp/mnt/sda1/dropbear-ssh.app.bin at /apps/dropbear-ssh
Dec 31 16:00:47 WDTV-71c3c user.notice root: nls-codepages-0.1 app found
Dec 31 16:00:47 WDTV-71c3c user.notice root: Mounting /tmp/mnt/sda1/nls-codepages-0.1.app.bin at /apps/nls-codepages-0.1
Dec 31 16:00:47 WDTV-71c3c user.notice root: Mounting opt.bin at /opt
[...]
Dec 31 16:00:47 WDTV-71c3c user.notice root: samba app found
Dec 31 16:00:47 WDTV-71c3c user.notice root: Mounting /tmp/mnt/sda1/samba.app.bin at /apps/samba
Dec 31 16:00:48 WDTV-71c3c user.notice root: screen-dump app found
Dec 31 16:00:48 WDTV-71c3c user.notice root: Mounting /tmp/mnt/sda1/screen-dump.app.bin at /apps/screen-dump

But /apps is empty...

Mounting an app manually doesn't work either :

# mount -o bind /tmp/mnt/sda1/dropbear-ssh.app.bin /apps/dropbear-ssh
# ls /apps

here fred, sorry I made a typo in all the tweakin.

http://rapidshare.com/files/231464283/1.02.07_B-RAD.CC_WDLXTV-0.5.3.1.zip

I just got back in town...I left my wdtv playing 20 files off my nfs on loop the whole time & to my suprised 48hr later its still playing everything ???

I think I'm going to release a few packs with WD's binaries inside to see if older dmaosd/etc will fix this across the board.

I was able to reproduce this with ext3-boot, and cionci says its exists there too...which is making it seem like wd did something with 1.02.07 :o

To make these freezing issues worse I'm going out of town for almost a month (africa:D;D) in 3 days, so I need all the help I can before then to try and fix this sufficiently.

I have a problem with my USB drive. Since updating to firmware 1.02.07_B-RAD.CC_WDLXTV-0.5.3 I no longer can access the ext3 partition. The drive is formatted with a 512M fat32 and 2nd partition ext3. When WDTV boots it scans the drive and says, Media library compilation requires more storage space: [600 MB]. I go back to home and it says, Storage can not aggregate, at the top of screen. There is plenty of free space on 2nd partition is 512 not enough on fat32 boot partition or is something else going on? The drive passes file system checks when connected to PC. I also just updated to 1.02.07_B-RAD.CC_WDLXTV-0.5.3.1 using this HDD. Do I need to reformat the drive and start over? Thanks

Edit: By ftp I can access both partitions normally.

Same adapter works fine with ext3-boot release 0.9.2, with the same settings files and same wireless-mod 0.3.
It's necesary to raname wireless-mod.app.bin to something else?

Don't you need the WDLXTV version wireless-mod-wdlxtv.app.bin? Try looking in the wireless thread, someone's posted a link to that file.

I have the same problem, search into the whole forum and posts and nothing, google didn't help, where is the wireless-mod-wdlxtv app , or the wireless-mod.app works??

for some odd but good reason, after upgrading my wdtv to 0.5.3.0 and 0.5.3.1, my 1080p valkyrie mkv file is playing perfectly over CIFS ... i been having the hardest time to get NFS working, this has been some badly needed good news ... while my other 1080p mkv still stutters, for whatever reason, the recently release valkyrie mkv is working perfectly! now if only a) the rest of my 1080p collection runs over CIFS or b) i can figure out this bloody NFS share problem ...

I had the same issue with 1.02.07-WDLXTV_0.5.2. Solved by reformatting the FAT32 partition to 1024MB. Anyhow i still have all the other problems... I really think the new official Ext3 support has screwed something up: with media library on, before the the GUI autorefreshed the hdd in realtime, so if i put something new by Ftp i could see it immediatly in the movie's list, now i have to reboot or disable and re-enable media library.  ???

@b-radd: All the problem i'm experiencing randomly (buttons not responding, movies still going on even after exiting, sometimes no AC3 audio through HDMI but ok through SPDIF) are not network related coz i have nothing mounted, i play everything through my ext3 hdd partition.

my wdtv has been playing videos on loop straight since friday @ 3pm.

Whatever the issue was it doesn't seem to be affecting me anymore for whatever reason...it sure seems like either factory reset or pushing a pin in the side did something to fix me right up.  ??? I think I power cycled the wdtv while I was pushing in the reset button...Whatever happened I can't get my wdtv to freeze anymore.

Hi b-rad.cc

first of all, thx for your hard work.

since i upgraded to 0.5.3 all my mkvs are playing in english as standard audio output language. all fws below 0.5.3 it was playing my files in german as i wanted it to.

do you have any suggestions on how to change standard audio language?

thx and keep up the awesome work !

Well, that's interesting - In all of my fighting with this thing over the past five or six days, I never even NOTCIED that reset pin hole on the side.  Wouldn't that be the same as power cycling (which Ive done tens of times)?

Regardless, I'm going to try to muck with that tonite from home.  As you said, maybe holding that in while powering it up may do something??

i may be the only one, but just went from 0.5.2 to 0.5.3.1 and nfs performance has smoothed out so i dont need killall plug.watch anymore, but the performance has dropped from 48mbps to 28mbps

any ideas?

edit - its something with my config, dipped in performance overnight it seems :(

There's a pin?

I will check it out and follow your directions:

push pin and power cycle

Thanks B-Rad

Hey, Good wishes on your travels and be safe...

I now (since 0.5.3) have the same issues with remote controller and mkv playing...
We'll see if the "reset" will make things better.

PS : have a nice trip b-rad !

I increased the fat32 boot partition to 1GB and reformatted the ext3 partition and now the WDTV sees the folder and scans it ok. So I ftp'ed some movies over and tried them out. Everything seemed ok now. I then tried to ftp some more files over and it fails saying read only file system.  My net shares are working I was ftping at 3.6MB/s CIFS don't know whats going on here?  Thanks for any help

Edit: I deleted webserver.app.bin and now the drive is writable? There still is something wierd going on though. I get empty directories by ftp sometimes. The files return after reboot.
