I used b-rads latest version 0.3.2 and I also had the same problem of it not finding the update. As B-rad suggests change your wdtvlive.ver file to read the following:

VERSION='1.20.04.WDLXTV_LIVE-0.3.2'LOCATION='wdtvlive.bin'

save the usb flash drive with the change to the wdtvlive.ver file and try the above again.

Good luck.

like I said.. you don't need to downgrade.. just edit the 'wdtvlive.ver' file and make sure the version number that says 1.01.17 is something higher and save it.. the comment above works too because obviously 1.20. is higher than 1.01.

Once the version is higher in the .ver file.. plug your usb stick in and the firmware update will be found.

on my usb drive I have the following files:

Changelog
net.mounts
README
S00custom-options
wdtvlive.bin
wdtvlive.ver ---- which has been edited to a higher version.

I copied them all to make sure its gonna work... Maybe try doing the unplug and plug again and see if it works.

Yeah , i copied all the files to the usb too,,, same problem. it just reboot and back to the same thing asking if i want to upgrade.

I can tell you that after my installation was complete it found the upgrade again and prompted me to install it but soon realized that the installation did work and it was asking again due to the ver number.

But going by what your saying it isnt installing at all which is unusual. Im not really sure why.

usually when you install it it will reboot then go to the screen saying its installing and not to switch off etc.. under that is a bar that slowly climbs to 100%... then I think it reboots again and its done.... new wood panel background etc.

if you're attempting to upgrade from 1.01.17 then its been reported not to work without first downgrading to 1.01.11 first. Theres a thread about it thats been on the front page for a couple days.

I went through this exercise on Friday night.  I had to downgrade from 1.01.17 to 1.01.11 first.
I too had the same issue in that .11 wouldn't install.
It seems the wdtvlive.fff file was also needed on the usb stick.

So if you download 1.01.11.zip from http://rapidshare.com/files/308628414/WDTV_Live_1_01_11.zip

Extract contents to the root of your USB stick - so that's:
wdtvlive.fff
wdtvlive.ver
wdtvlive.bin

I *think* I then had to edit the VERSION= in the wdtvlive.ver file to a value like 1.01.19 (something higher than 1.01.17 so that the WDTVLive thinks the firmware you've got on the stick is higher / newer than 1.01.17)

VERSION='1.01.19'
LOCATION='wdtvlive.bin'
PKG_LOCATION='wdtvlive.pkg'

Save the wdtvlive.ver file to the root of the USB stick.

Then power it up and see if it installs the 1.01.11 firmware.

Another thing that you may want to think about is, unplugging your network connection to the WDTV Live.  I ran into this problem last night on my brother-in-laws box that was at 1.01.17.  After downgrading it to 1.01.11, then trying to flash with b-rads fw.  It seemed to pick up 1.01.17 with of of the internet, instead of b-rad custom fw.
