This application retrieves movie content from The Movie Db and generates wd_tv.jpg, info.txt (optional), and folder.jpg files in your movie directories. These directories, when read by the Western Digital WD TV, will display a full 1280x720px background image, a 180x240px thumbnail, and movie information instead of the generic WDTV movie thumbnail and background image.

Download WDTV  ImageGrabber v2.9.9.1

This program requires the latest version of Microsoft .NET Framework to run

LaurentG app.bin - http://wdtvforum.com/main/index.php?topic=1039.0

Important Notes:
Custom Movie Sheet Builder app - Builds a single movie sheet and folder.jpg from scratch.
Mass Folder Renamer - Cleans up folder names in your movie directory (ex. the.dark.knight.[2008]-DVDRIP   ->  The Dark Knight), includes a demo mode to test it out first.
Each movie needs to be contained within a directory named after a movie (otherwise, have an info.txt or .nfo file in the folder containing the IMDB ID).
The generated files will be automatically placed into each directory.
I tested my application on a movie directory with 83 movies, it found images for 76 movies, 5 movies were found but did not have any images, and 2 movies weren't found. Overall it took about 25 minutes for all the images to download, but this depends on your internet speed.

Folder structure:

If you set the folder D:\movies\ in the WDTV Image Grabber program, movie directories should be like:

D:\movies\300\
D:\movies\The Bourne Identity\
D:\movies\The Dark Knight\

Instructions:

1. Select Movie Directory (Your folder containing the movie directories).
2. Press Generate! button.
3. The left box will populate with movie names grabbed from directory name. The right box will show Movie Name if the movie was found.
4. Once retrieval has finished, you can compare the boxes to find out if there are any movies it couldn't find.

This application generates:

wd_tv.jpg = a 1280x720px jpeg which becomes a backdrop in WDTV. Now this file also contains a poster image and movie information text written onto it.
folder.jpg = a 180x240 or 120x180 jpeg which becomes a thumbnail in WDTV
info.txt = a text file displaying movie information. If this file exists in the movie directory, the program will read the IMDB ID off it instead of using the folder name to search (optional)

Feedback much appreciated!!

Revamped backdrop style

MSheet backdrop style

Cinema backdrop style

CRT TV backdrop style (left and right borders for older CRT TVs)

Thanks for this amazing app, but all my sheets have this bug as shown below. Also would it be hard to include some options, like witch info to display?

Okay download the app from the same link and try again. If it doesn't work, tell me how your Windows time and date is formatted.

It should be like this..

For selecting movie information to display, I can create a setting tab pretty easily.

Yes, I figured it on my own it was the custom date format I had been using for a long time. Thank you for the update now it's almost perfect. Well, I was wondering why the folder images aren't in 180x240 wouldn't they look sharper?, especially when using osd mod like picto. :P

I added some tabs for settings in V1.5. If you disable all of the movie info checkboxes, you can show only the backdrop without the overlay. In true lazy man style, recommended settings are default.

What is the best size for folder.jpg? I just got my WDTV on black friday, pretty new to this stuff.

I use lilibabe OSD mod http://wdtv.free.fr/osdmod/ which uses 180x240 resolution. U should try it! :)

Ok in V1.6 folder.jpg will now output to 180x240px. What is the default size for folder.jpg anyway?

I also created a new backdrop style which probably looks better ony HDTVs. Older version still available since with it's larger text should be better for composite connection.

@full: I think I found your bug, redownload and try the 1.6 version.

The best movie sheets app for lazy man. :D

Some small things that bug me are:
-rating sometimes not rounded to two decimal (it would be better to round it to 1 decimal) like in picture below, its weird why it only happens in some movies
-genres cut off when there's a lot genres listed (as below)
-year listed as day/month/year (I think only year of the movie would be enough :P or maybe an option to select the format)
-no director and/or main cast info

P.S. You said u wanted feedback so I hope I'm not being pain in the ass. ;D

Its okay im bound to miss things due to my lack of testing and right now you are the voice of the people.

- I'll round to one decimal
- Genres will span two lines, I hope that is enough
- This makes sense too
- Director and cast can be really long and I'm not sure where would be the best place to place it.. any ideas?

btw, that lilibabe OSD mod looks much better than the regular wdtv osd.

one nice thing would be if you could also get the information about MPAA rating. So if it's R or 13+ or what ever. main reason for this request is that i'm watching movies with my kids and i need to show if the movie is "good" for them :)
