Hello

Playing .iso from my Synology DS209 NAS server is not possible, but exact same file from USB is not a problem.

Why is that???

Thanks...

If the .iso plays from a usb attached storage then it's not a format problem.  Sounds like a network issue.  Does any other file type play on the WDTV from the NAS?  Do you see the WDTV on your network from the computer?

.iso and .mov do not play from DLNA but they will from window shares (SMB / CIFS).  Not really an issue for me as 99% of my stuff is 720p or 1080p mkv files.  Although home movies are .mov format at least until I get around to reencoding them.

Hi, and thanks for the replys...

My WD TV Live works ferfectly playing lots of formats from my NAS except iso!
Formats specified by WD here: http://www.westerndigital.com/en/products/Products.asp?DriveID=735

But iso is not mentioned!

Can you play iso from Your NAS server???

What is the best software to do mkv? ;-)

Yes.  All my .iso play across my network.  Is your WDTV connected wirelessly?

Handbrake, Makemkv.  Depends on your requirements.  If in doubt perhaps http://wdtvforum.com/main/index.php?topic=3314.0 may help.

Getting the same problem here.

ISO's and DVDRips (VIDEO_TS/*.vobs) play fine (no menus, just plays the movie) from USB
But over SMB it wont even think about playing.

Going to try NFS tonight (I have B-RAD rom)

Generally media servers only "serve" some files, and usually iso's aren't part of that.
If you can create a "share" on the media server and connect to that instead you get to see all the files and then its up to the live if it wants to play it.
If you think there is something wrong with your WD device contact them and then act upon that: Either wait or move on - don't whine here - this is not WD's board. If you have a problem, start a thread and ask - perhaps someone knows the answer.
