If I add files with filenames containing norwegian characters () to a playlist, the files do not show up when opening playlist in WDTV.

Get identical result with m3u, pls and wpl.

Edit: If I change the encoding of the entire file to UTF-8 it appears to work. This results in non-ASCII characters encoded with their two-byte UTF-8 code are shown with correct letter in GUI and most important: they also play fine:)

Now if only the automatic sorting of playlists could be removed/made optional

I've had this problem with any non-alpha numeric character in the folder names.

I had an artist with a ';' in the title which would not show-up in the folder navigation.
