Question on the thumbnails.  I have read several of the other posts trying to get my thumbnails to display the movie pics, but have been unsuccessful.  I would appreciate it if someone could help me see what I’m missing.  This is what I have done so far:
- Running WDLXTV_LIVE-0.3.2
- In video setting choose “Thumbnails” over list
- Using HP media server sharing out movie across network
- All movies shared in Videos directory mostly .avi files
- Used ThumbGen.exe to generate movie jpg
- Named jpg same as movie having both files in the root of Videos directory (this didn’t work):
     - ex\ 300.avi => 300.jpg
- Then tried this (This didn’t work):
     - ex\ created folder 300 => Placed avi and jpg inside 300 folder, also renamed jpg to folder.jpg
I have restarted the WDTV after all this different changes and I’m lost for what I can be doing wrong.  Please let me know if you have any suggestions to try.

When you say "didn't work"...what happened?

Try using a usb harddrive or netmounting your share instead.

Okay so on my WHS server I have now installed Windows services for UNIX and was able to use the xmounts from the WDLXTV firmware.   Once I did that I was able to start seeing thumbnails.  The question now is what is the correct way to list the movies on the file share.  Do you just list all the avi’s and the jpg’s in one folder or make individual folders for each movie with avi and jpg copy into it.  Right now I have the avi’s and jpg’s in one directory and when browsing the movies I see the jpg’s and avi’s.  How do I get rid of this issue?  Also is there a way to stack the movies that have two parts, so that they show as one title?

Ex\ 300 – cd1  => 300 – cd2  => 300.avi

Version 0.9 is up and running.

Beside bugfixing, some code refactoring and few small tweaks to be done I consider the ThumbGen finished (at least it suits my needs by 100%) and I'll stop working on it. Please continue to report bugs/issues via ThumbGen blog.

Have fun  ;)

Great work, love the new option.
I do however "wish" that I had a little more control over the custom created thumbnails. Currently it just puts one screenshot in the long verticle thumbnail...It would be nice to be able to choose multiple screenshots and put them into a single thumb to fill in the space. I currently use other software to do this. See below:

Good idea  ;)   Will be a rainy weekend here so I guess your suggestion has a good chance to be implemented if it not very complicated (I am not sure how many users are using this feature anyway).

I have just one problem.  When I try to generate a screenshot of a high-def home movie that I have, the controls to take a screenshot are gone.  All other movies I have work correctly. Just seems like the video and the controls are too big to fit on the screen together. Here is the media info if that helps.

I like your application :)

could you add a switch to just generate based on the 'use movie snapshots', withouth the tool having to search first ? :) (so I could create thumbs for all my camera movies)

I tried to play some mp4, .ts, mkv, avi (divx), mov, ...
and get all the time
Error During Playback
Media file download failed.

any idea?

That's a good idea; will be available in the next release (always check http://thumbgen.blogspot.com/2010/01/pending-tasks-and-requests-for-future.html for Pending tasks and status)

Unfortunately I don't have any control over the playback, I simply use an embedded Windows Media Player control that requires Windows Media Player v10+ to be installed and also the proper codecs. Except of the .mov files (and mp4/ts that I did not try) I am able to play almost any file just using the suggested Haali Media Splitter and the ffdshow codecs. Try to install these and check their configs.

PS: I just renamed one .mov file .avi and it worked :) Also after I installed http://www.free-codecs.com/3ivx_download.htm  the mov files can be played inside ThumbGen.

Ok
I tried plyaing some in Media Player, and it had to download the codecs to work (I'm nevere using Media Player, alwayts VLC, Mplayerc :)

I can use the cropper to select a part of the file, but is there a way to just resize based on the first or later frames?

tThanks
