Haven't get change to test it myself but found debian package:

http://packages.debian.org/lenny/mipsel/rtorrent/download

Can anybody confirm that it will work on WDTV Live?

Yes, they seem to be binary compatible. However, due to a lot of library dependencies, I couldn't get it to work yet.

Ok, debian is providing a whole bloody repo for us. I'll try to get debootstrap running locally today and will try to write a short tutorial afterwards. In case I get it running, of course :)

At least good news, mipsel (MIPS little edian) seems to be the keyword here to get applications for WDTV Live.

Maybe to try it install with ipkg. ipkg installation instructions for mipsel: http://buffalo.nas-central.org/wiki/Ipkg_on_the_Linkstation_%28for_end-users%29#MIPSel
