Time for a weekly update.    :)

As with 1.02.02, .03 and 04 this is a PRE RELEASE which means it is not necessarily bug less.

It is however an OFFICIAL RELEASE from WD.

Here is the direct link  http://support.wdc.com/download/wdtv/WDTV_FW_1_02_06.zip

This is a pre-release version of the firmware. Feel free to install it but be aware this is beta firmware so use it at your own risk.
If you are not comfortable with this, please wait for the final version.

What's New?

Prerelease 1.02.06 (includes all previously released updates)

    * Enhanced cover art, album art, and thumbnail support for media files and folders
    * Additional subtitle languages and decoding support
    * Improved media playback and navigation
    * More audio formats for MKV container
    * Fixed bugs reported by the WD TV user community

Enjoy!

From Readme.txt inside ZIP:

Fixed items:

*Subtitle outline needs to be thicker

*Drives don't spin down when ejected in 1.02.03

*Thumbnails don't refresh to reflect changes until House is powercycled

*"Now Playing" screen doesn't show up

*2x Reverse goes very fast

download works for me...

But I think it would be better to link either to the link as posted by WD
http://www.wdc.com/global/webtracking/index.asp?id=1071&url=http://support.wdc.com/download/wdtv/WDTV_FW_1_02_06.zip

(apparently they do some download statistics with this link)

or to prerelease page http://www.wdc.com/wdtvprerelease/
which allows users to see for themselves how (and with what warnings/disclaimers) WD announces the BETA.

Hey Jay
I notice no suggestion of a correction to power management of Hard Disks when WDTV is switched off. (ie connected HDD do not power off when WDTV is powered off to standby mode by rmote).

Do you think this is correctable by a firmware update and if so if its "on the list" ?

Many thanks
Hugh

Look in the REQ area.  This is a hot topic.  No one but WD knows for sure if this is software controllable.

Here is a related topic http://wdtvforum.com/main/index.php?topic=225.0

Just noticed that WDTV does not seem to play .sub -files (the other major subtitle form with .srt). Is this a known issue? Could this be fixed?
