Author Topic: Need help installing ext3-boot  (Read 3743 times)

I download the ext3-boot release 0.9.2 zipped file, open the file and extract the contents onto a USB flash drive.  I insert the flash drive and start up the WD TV and I get the logo screen and then everything goes black.  I let it run for 10 mins and it was still black.  I had to reflash the factory firmware to get it to work again.  I've even formated my USB flash drive and tried another one.  And it is a WDAVN0BN model.
What am I doing wrong?

are you trying to flash it to the original wdtv, the mini or the new live (wdtv2)?

I figured out my problem, I was using SanDisk Cruzer USB sticks, thanks for the reply

well my point was simple, ext3-boot is for the wdtv and you posted in the live / mini section.

I wasn't sure what you were trying to do to which unit.

Yes, your symptoms resemble what I went through - removing the U3 partition solved the problem for me.
