lilibabe your original WDTV work was truly awesome, can't wait to see unadorned on the Live, thank you for your persistence and effort =)

Thank you for your encouragement, I'm a little less motivated lately but I'll try to lay something for easter  ;)

There's a lot more work with Live compared to WDTV1 (gfx and xml files).

Don't even think about it for awhile. Just leave it to your subconscious and one morning you will awaken with an inspiration. Voila!  ;D

You can not use it until she lilibabe creates it. She Lili is merely asking for opinions based upon the work she he did for the user interface for the WDTV "1". At the present time she he is only considering what to create for the WDTV Live.

First post. I just wanted to say, anything that you do, lilibabe, will be great.  We can also Beta test for you, if you want.
We just need to know how to go back to the original, if we need to.

Again, thanks.

I did notice a contribution link on your site.  I will visit that next!  :)

Ahhh.  :-[  Excusez-moi monsieur. Mille pardons!  ;D

(I managed to do it four times in one post, too!)

Also have to considerably adjust my mental image of M. lilibabe!!

@wow0609 : for the moment, it's just the design with photoshop, then testing on the wdtv (jpg file from photoshop). But i don't find a good solution : gradients are not well shown, etc, etc. So, i think i will make something like "simple and unadorned" with reworked gfx. Of course, I will keep you informed of my progress and and I will submit my work before a final version (not before many weeks/months !)

@b-rad.cc : thank you, i will look at this...

@Pennhaven : no problem !  ;)

And now no one laughs over my nickname  :P

I for one love the minimalistic skin.  Just so simple and classy.  One of the reasons I haven't bought a live yet is because I don't want to lose this beautiful skin. It's like I have a new player.

@lilibabe - Quick question for you.. I've been playing with the idea of doing some customization of the UI as well, but I'm curious how you're doing your testing. I've tried copying single-element files (direct replacements of the stock ones for now) over to the WDTV Live via FTP as well as in a root-shell from an attached USB drive, but in both cases I get an error stating that it's a "read-only filesystem". Any thoughts on how to get it to let me actually +use+ the test graphics I've whipped up? I've even tried as root just chmod 777 the whole bloody OSD directory & subdirs & files, but get the same thing on them all.. just curious how you're doing things.

Much thanks in advance. :)

x.

@imex : unfortunately for you, the 1st mod i will create for WDTV Live will be based on "simple". Maybe later i will do the same for "minimalistic".

@randy.andrade : I didn't try to modify the fw of the WDTV Live for now, so i can't answer...

What about the GUI that idaho680 has done or is working on? The media stream GUI is quite popular now with xbmc and plex... I used it on plex and its quite nice.

Yes, idaho680 do a good work with his mod, but I want something more "international", there is not just English users !

Maybe he will adapt it for the Live version later...
