I bought EnGenius EUB9706 Wireless N USB Adapter from EBAY (actually BUY.COM for $18 free shipping) and it worked well. This adapter is listed working with Linux in general (both kernel 2.4 and 2.6) so it would be useful if you also use it in other Linux machines or devices.

Tried a Netgear WNDA3100 (expensive) and on old Belkin USB adapter, both didn't work.

Picked up a Dlink DWA-125 for next to nothing and worked first time (still got network share issues, but it's connected solidly).

Network setup on Windows 7 64 bit.
Wired (cat5) to my Belkin F1P1243EGau  4 port and "N" wireless modem router (known as iinet's "BOB" for my  adsl internet) 8 meters away thru 2 walls   both brick
Then networked again wirelessly to the computer in the garage (aprox 10mtrs away 1 double brick wall and cladding).
My test was set up a usb HD 250gig in the garage puter (Windows 7 32bit)=>  thru the router network  => to wirless wdtvlive media player and play a .vob
Wirless unit i am using is Siemens Gigaset USB Adapter 300  (bought for $5 at a garage sale)  ;D no probs with drivers or connection to my BoB wirless modem router. Every firmware i have thrown at it, instant connection. No issues with drivers or firmwares. :) :) ;)
Used Edimax EW-7711UAn (purchased for $23 aud at msy) Was not reliable. >:(

Siemens Gigaset USB Adapter 300   Going for 14 mths now  have thrown most firmwares at it   no hiccups. Playing HD videos wirelessly too

I just tested my WDTV Live with the WUSB54GC and I confirm it doesn't work with the official firmware.  It doesn't even light up, much less get an IP address.

In the last prerelease 1.02.19 officially have included support for new wireless devices namely the TP-LINK TL-WN821N (Atheros chipset) now works perfectly, which is not done with previous FW. This model is a good thing is that he's cheap (cost me 19 ) and has a maximum transfer of 300Mbps.

I tried another and was going well even with the previous FW C150RU of CONCEPTRONIC (11.90 price in app).

Well now you know these two work perfectly and are cheap.

Now there is the issue of transfer of files that have a high bitrate, I tried some and the picture freezes or the sound is lost, do not know if NFS data transfer will be better.

I tried to hanewin, but does not work.

Someone can help me?

Regards.

I've posted this a couple times, but now see there is a specific spot for the info! :D

My setup-

D-link DIR-855 -Latest Firmware
WD LIVE x 2 -- Latest Firmware
WUSB600 V1

Media streaming is setup on the 5 Ghz band using wireless N only. This band is dedicated to media / wd live boxes only.

I can stream two different 720p movies at the same time, one on each box, without any issues.

Hope this helps someone.....

Here is my setup

D-link DNS323 with latest firmware that allows NFS
Router D-Link  DIR-655
   - using WPA2/AES
   - MAC Filtering
   - invisible SSID (But started as visible)
USB Adapter D-Link DWA-140B2 (RT3070)

My WDTV is about 100 feet away with 3-4 walls

It works fine for 720p

I'm switching to the dual band but I do not know if it will still work
Has anybody done any testing with D-link dual band hardware ?

Thanks

Mega

I use a MSI US300EX.
Works perfect, router(FritzBox7270) shows connection at 81Mbit/s
Distance is about 7 meter through one wall, a CRT TV and an Audiobox.
Havent done a speed test to check the netto throughput.
I will get a short usb extension cable to adjust the sticks directon towards the router.
This can dramatically increase the throughput.
This way i increased the the connection of my pc from 54Mbit/s to 162Mbit/s

Cheers
