v1.02.04 is a major improvement.  Kudos to WDTV developers.  It has created a new bug however.  Fast forward / rewind is broken.  Apparently this should be trivial to fix..

It happens with any or all .mkv's.  (Might happen with other file types too).  While playing ANY movie, press FF or rewind.  When you press 'play' again, you are back where you were in the first place!!

mine FF just fine, but on FR the video is jumping all over the place, I can't tell if it's going back or ahead.
After playing with it on several videos, it is doing it consistently on FR, it does go back, you just can't tell where you are, you have to guess, this indeed needs to be addressed.
FF and FR and crucial for parts missed or intros you want to skip.

it's hard to describe but the video is jumping from scene to scene, or it seems that way..
You laugh because Iím different, I laugh because youíre all the same.

it skips back extremely quickly through as far as i can tell, the key frames.

rewinding will always be awkward, look at any pc player, mpc, zplayer, kmplayer.

FF works for me, RW works fine other than the crazy speed of the keyframes.  Just go by the time in the status bar when you rewind.

I have issue with FF/RW as well.

Also, more importantly, don't know if this is Firmware or device it wont FF iTunes movies in M4V format. Structure as follows...

Format : H.264, 720 x 304, Millions AAC, Stereo (L R), 48.000 kHz
FPS: 23.98
Data Size: 1.77 GB
Data Rate: 2127.91 kbits/s
Size: 720 x 304 pixels (Actual)

The file is M4V because it also contains a nested AC3 audio track for Apple TV. Simply get red circle with line when I try.

So far I like the WDTV, but I wont buy 3 more unless we can resolve the FF or at least get chapters working for M4V files. Any help would be appreciated.

I do have NFS and the M4Vs are on it with 1080P/DTS content that plays flawlessly and FF/RW (visually) but as I stop FF/RW it continues in original position.

I have same problem with MKV but only with one .MKV (Matroska) all others AVI / MP4 files working fine.
But I have correctly created index or recreated with mencoder

generic command is

mencoder [inputfile.ext] -ovc copy -oac copy -forceidx -o new_movie.avi

or

mencoder [inputfile.ext] -ovc copy -oac copy -idx -o new_movie.avi

mencoder is creating .AVI files if you want mux to other container you have to check manual -lavcf ot something like that.

This should be fixed in 1.02.06, which is now available on our prerelease site.

I'm new to the WD, usually use XBMC or AppleTV... but if I read everything correctly I'll have to wait for a version of WDLXTV based on 1.02.06 for my NAS to work... is this correct?

Thank you GuyWD.  You guys are incredibly quick.  Much appreciated.

Hopefully you will also do something about auto-adjusting output to the resolution and framerate of media (subject to the capabilities of the TV reported in its EDID).

I installed B-Rads latest with 1.02.06 - in word AWSOME!

My problems with FF/RW are gone, except that I have to rename M4V files to MP4. If I change the filename.m4v to filename.mp4 it works flawless. Also my 1080P w/DTS over FreeNAS NFS works with FF/RW and plays fantastic.
