Does anyone ever tried and managed to make amule work on WDTV?
I tried following this guide
http://www.hwupgrade.it/forum/showthread.php?t=1889276&page=60
but in the end it doesn't work, when I launch the init.d script it says it cannot execute.
Does anybody knows another better way and/or guide to install amule?
Tnx

I use mldonkey for this. Has no local gui. Uses webinterface or you can use another client such as sancho as remote gui (Windows/linux). Can do torrents, gnutella etc. as well.
Works like a charm. Tried amule some years ago but found mldonkey has more options and is easy to install and use.

oh and....non parlo italiano.

I second that - mldonkey, together with a webgui would be awesome.

# wget http://ipkg.nslu2-linux.org/feeds/optware/wdtv/native/unstable/mldonkey_3.0.0-1_mipsel.ipk

# ipkg install mldonkey_3.0.0-1_mipsel.ipk

in /etc/profile (at end of the file) add the location where you want mldonkey to do its things,i.e. where your downloads go.

export MLDONKEY_DIR = "/tmp/media/usb/myusbdrive/mldonkey"

additionally you have to have a correct system time. So in net.config located in the root of your boot drive the NTP variable must be set.

NTP = pool.ntp.org

optionally you can do a correction for your timezone by adding in /etc/profile.

export TZ="CET-1CETDST"

reboot

check if your system time is correct

# date

start mldonkey

# mlnet.byte

use event-osd or wdtvext to start/stop mldonkey from your tv menu. I find this very handy so you donīt have to power up a pc and telnet/ssh in.

Sancho is a cool GUI.  http://sancho.awardspace.com/
The webgui i find somewhat boring. use port 4080 for webgui.

Is there any chance of getting this as an app file to minimise the ammount of config needed ?

Would be really great!

BTW, I have a newbie question:

By ejecuting things like this...
"# ipkg install mldonkey_3.0.0-1_mipsel.ipk"
...and installing some packages to the WDTV where the mods occurs? in the WDTV firmware? In the opt.bin? Is there some chance of brick the device?
Thanks!
