I think so, too. But Iḿ new to Linux, especially in using of the terminal. So now I have unpack it and see all the folders. But at the moment I cannot change the things ćause I havenīt rights for changing in this folder. Any idea how I can get it? For example the welcome_background_bg.png in image/osd.

Would be thankful for a littel help. And sry for all the newbie trouble.

Bye

My Linux experience dates from.......my 1st mod for the WDTV !  ;)

To modify the files, you must do this in the terminal window :

rsync -avHS firmware/* new_folder/

where firmware/ is the folder where you mounted the wdtv.bin file

Hi lilibabe,

thanks for your help. It works now, yeah  ;D. I have two questions about your style: in V2 there was next to the menu icons a text (video, audio, picture, preferences). I think you know what I mean. But in V3 there is no text. But for me it seems that itś unclear. Is it possible that you make it again. Or how I can make it for my self? Which folders/files must be edit?

Thanks for all and hope to see more of your work.

The best way to understand and learn is to study the code of the 2 versions !  ;)

Mount both versions and compare the files. For example, the file named 'home.xml' describes the main screen layout. You will see what changes, what was deleted, etc.

sorry if I can't help you anymore, I'm at the office !

Okay, Iīll try this. But only one more thing (and then it should be really all): how can I change the colors? I think it must be in the .xml files. For example, if Iīm looking a video, in the windows (press ok-button) the time of the movie is blue. But for me, itīs hard to see, so I would be glad if I could change the color of this for my bad eyes ;D Is there a list of numbers for which color which number is?

Thanks for all your help.

Nice weekend and best regards

Greggy

The blue progress bar is a png file, so you can't change its color by just until you provide another png file !

For the rest, you can for example change the text color and its size by modifying xml files : depending on what you want, there's more or less xml files to edit...

To know which color is "#123456", you can for example go there : http://www.colorschemer.com/online.html

V3 final is available !  :o

See 1st post for the details...

Edit : ooops ! I just noticed that the big and small versions have a problem (new selection frame) ! I will reupload in a few hours...

Edit2 : it's ok now, files reuploaded ! (it also concerned the "normal" 2x5 version for photos/music thumbnails, please download again !)

Looks great!!! Well done. So the last few days Iīve take an intensiv look on the osd folder in the firmware and figured out how I can change the different things so I can change the text color in home screen and other files. Thanks for all lilibabe.

But one question: your mods are only in the osd folder, isnīt it? So Other files are not edited by you?

Hi Lilibabe,
I compared the international V2 and V3; I think the V3 has a bug.
When playing a movie for several minutes in the V3 and then press stop and after several minutes trying to play the same movie appear the message invalid file, this does not happen in V2 with the same movie.
The V3 was installed more than once and the bug was the same with diferent movies.

Hi mate, just go to page one for the link, or http://wdtv.free.fr/osdmod/ , unzip it to a usb stick, plug stick into WDTV. Unplug and replug main power to WDTV and it should load up. Sometimes there is a delay, but don't despair it will happen. I'm pretty sure that's basically it.

...and don't forget to also put the file 'wdtv.ver' (http://wdtv.free.fr/osdmod/dl/wdtv.ver) on your usb stick.

v3 is here : http://wdtv.free.fr/osdmod/dl/simple_v3%20%5b1.03.01%5d/
