if it is not added, you may add it to the version in Spanish please?

Thank you Lilibabe.

Hi Lilibabe, I've got v1 installed and I'm very happy with it. Can I consider v2 final? I'd like to upgrade to v2 only if it's the final version. TIA, have a nice day!

P.S. Great work, thank you for your effort to improve WDTV OSD!!

Thanks for the real nice OSD mod: a vast improvement in legibility and design.

One query, though: I can't get a screensaver to work. There seems to be none by default and copying a suitable <screen_saver.png> into the root of the USB drive doesn't work either.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Noel

In fact, in the original fw, there's no 'screensaver.jpg' and the file 'screensaver.xml' is empty. I think the wdtv uses the file 'welcome_logo.png'.

But french users reported me this problem, it must be linked to fw b-rad.

If you really want the screensaver (is it useful ?), put a file 'screensaver.png' within the folder 'osd/image' of the osd.bin file.

Wow, lilibabe's mod is great.  Didn't realize what I was missing until loading this.

Question:
How do I edit the lilibabe.osd.bin file?  I'm a Windows user.  Do I need a special program to edit .bin files?
I'd like to get my screensaver back.  Thanks!

I don't know if there will ever be final release, there are always things to change !  ;)

I haven't worked much these days on my mod but I'll change 2-3 things and then you can consider that this will be a final version (before next one !).

I'm a Windows user too, i installed VirtualBox with Ubuntu on it. Operations to mount the .bin file could be find here in this forum.

I tested several solutions to get a readable and pleasant semi-transparent background, but without success...  >:(

I will then turn back and return to a solution without background, something similar to v1 !

I'm going to change a few things and probably a new v2 in few days...

I NEED SOME HELP PLEASE:

I use the official firm 1.02.07 because is the only one that works with my hub and I cannot install the LILIBABE.OSD.BIN

I copied the file lilibabe.osd.bin to the root of each drive connected to the WD TV and even in a Pendrive connected to the USB 1 but the WD TV only shows the normal OSD.

If I install the lilibabe WDTV.BIN then I loose the usb hub support because it is based on 1.02.10 firm.

Any idea?

Thanks

There's 2 solutions Papalapa if you don't want to use version 1.02.10 :

- install WDLXTV based on 1.02.07 then use lilibabe.osd.bin (i don't know if it works as it's based on 1.02.10)
- mount wdtv.bin 1.02.07 (original fw) and wdtv.bin 1.02.10 (my mod), then copy xml files and image directory from 1.02.10 image to 1.02.07 image then recreate wdtv.bin file based on 1.02.07

Thanks a lot for the information lilibabe,

Now I'll go to study how the hell to "mount" an "recreate" the .bin files because I have no idea about what these words mean  ;D

Thanks again

Here is step by step for wdtv.bin (similar with lilibabe.osd.bin).

It's your lucky day !  ;)

Mounting original wdtv.bin file :

Code: [Select]
# sudo mount -t cramfs wdtv.bin 1.02.07_folder/ -o loop,offset=32
Making firmware r/w :

Code: [Select]
# rsync -avHS 1.02.07_folder/* folder07/
Same thing with my mod, jus replace 1.02.07_folder with for example 1.02.10_folder and folder07 by folder10.

Now, you can copy xml files and image directory from folder10 to folder07 (not necessarily all files !). Delete references to files in the osd directory (osd/*.xml, osd/image/*,...) in the file named 'md5sum.txt'

Then, you just have to recreate wdtv.bin file :

Code: [Select]
# mkcramfs folder07/ wdtv.cramfs
# md5sum wdtv.cramfs | dd bs=32 count=1 > wdtv.md5
# cat wdtv.md5 wdtv.cramfs > wdtv.bin

I didn't try it, but i think it will work !

Thanks a lot for your effort and clear explanation lilibabe, and sorry to disturb you again, but which kind of program do I need to enter those commands (#sudo and #rsync)??

After reading a lot of posts I was thinking that I should use "Vmware" but after downloading the files it seems that are for Linux only and I use WindowsXP.
