I'm more and more convinced to remove the 3 lines of text (for "now playing") in order to save space in height. Maybe I have an idea to make the screen more cool that way...

What do you think about that ? someone found the usefulness of this information to the screen (and other navigation screen) ?

Edit : here is what i mean... (2x5 thumbnails)

Love it!! Do you think it's possible to have current time/total time during playback a little bigger? They're too little. It'd be cool to set their size (and FF speed 2X, 4X and so on...) like filename font size. TIA, OSD MOD is W O N D E R F U L !!!

All is possible ! However, depending on the tv where you have your WDTV, it looks more or less small/large, it's difficult to make as many versions as people wishs...

I've got a 32'' HDReady and they're very small... it's difficult to modify by myself? I use linux regulary and I read somewhere in previous post you explained how to mount wdtv.bin to change content. TIA!!

32" HDReady for me too... I know it's not very big, but in fact i think it's not essential and i would like small overlay during playback, not not too intrusive.

If you know linux, then you could do it yourself ! Here is how to :

- mount the wdtv.bin file : sudo mount -t cramfs wdtv.bin /destination_dir/ -o loop,offset=32
- modify xml files according to your taste
- recreate wdtv.bin file :
1. mkcramfs /destination_dir/ wdtv.cramfs
2. md5sum wdtv.cramfs | dd bs=32 count=1 > wdtv.md5
3. cat wdtv.md5 wdtv.cramfs > wdtv.bin

PS : FF speed 2X, 4X and so on are png files, not text !

Very nice!!!. I think 2x5 thumbs is the best layout. You could make the thumb size even bigger using the unused space around the thumbs.

Dude,

Yours is the first forray I have ever made into the world of modified OSD's and your simplicity is refreshing.

Like many people I love the WDTV but feel that the standard interface has been designed by blind incompetant badgers.  Yours just seems to work.

I have a question however.  If I test out a few other OSD's and want to return to yours it's just as simple a process as re-flashing with your .bin file I take it.

I'm kind of interested in adding wireless now (just a second box, a couple of USB adaptors, a chunky NFS and the wife can have Mylo and Basement Jaxx upstairs whilst I can have Nick Drake and The Smiths downstairs - everyone is happy) So this would involve using a B-Rad's code I take it.

Not so much space in fact, on some TVs there's a lot of overscan. Secondly, the quality is degraded by increasing the size...

If you're using WDLXTV, you must use lilibabe.osd.bin, not wdtv.bin !
