Hi, is there any chance for Dlink DWA-160 rev. A2 (pid-vid : 07d1-3a09, Atheros Otus) to be included in the next wireless.mod.app for WDTV Gen1?
According to this post http://forum.wdlxtv.com/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=2361, soon it will be supported in b-rad's 0.4.5.0 version for WDTV Gen2.
DWA-160 A2 and TP-Link TL-WN821N seems to have the same chipset.
Thank you.

I do not think there will ever be any more improvements for wdtv gen1,since is already announced it's been discontinued.

If you want to add more id's into the apps,you'd need to do it yourself,intructions are clear enough for everyone to follow.

I am trying to connect Airlink 101 wifi-N adapter on wdtv-1gen.
I think I am really close to the final stage but I could not get wpa work.
Any advice is welcome.
Thanks.

Hi, I wonder if someone can help me:
I have modded my WDTV Gen 1 to WDLXTV 0.5.8.1
Now I am trying to get a wireless adaptor to work.

I have two wireless adaptors - (Both TP-Link) TL-WN821Nv3 and TL-WN722N. They are both Atheros I think, and I don't mind which I can use.

My wireless is 802.11n on ch1 with WPA2-PSK, the SSID is POKEMON and the PSK is 12345678 (for this example). DHCP is enabled on my router.

Here's what i've got so far:

The wireless adaptors don't even blink, and I can tell from my router that they are not connected.

Can anybody help? I have been trying to read guides but it is Chinese to me.

Thanks :)

@vdc,

don't know if you have a usb-ethernet adapter, if you do : please check if the "wireless-mod-wdlxtv.app.bin"is even picked-up/loaded at boot. Use telnet/shh to log in the box.

BTW : is that NEW VOLUME the drive-name of H: ? If it is, please change that name to something without a space in the name. With a space, no app.bin's will load (known bug)

@vdc

it should be "wpa_supplicant -Bw -Dotus -i$MDEV -c/boot/wpa_supplicant.conf" to use the atheros otus driver. However i assume this only works with TL-WN821Nv1(not confirmed) ... i had v2 and it didn't even detected the device in the dmesg output

This guide works like a charm for me
http://wdtvforum.com/main/index.php?topic=6842.0

However you need to use D-Link DWA-140 (Any revision, B1 aka Revision 1 or the newest B2 aka Revision 2)

guys, i have a comtrend dongle with zydas 1211 and other one comtrend zydas 1211b

all the attempts that i have performed to connect to a router with wpa-psk, have failed misserability.
I have read tons of forums and threads, and i feel that it is impossible to connect via wpa-psk, because in open mode or wep mode i got success.

I have also a TL-WN821N v2 and v3 but i dont know what mode must use for them wex otus ralink.

can someone throw some light over the gen1 connection with wpa-psk ?

also, what wireless mod i must use ? because exist several.

thx in advance

Can you not have a "persistent" (or static lease) IP for the WDTV using DHCP? I have a cheap DLink router that allows me to assign an IP for anything on the network. Granted I use DD-WRT, but the default DLink firmware allowed static leases. Actually, I have everything assigned it's own IP and so far no issues.
