How do I make it so I can navigate video files in subfolders like they are on the NAS. Example the folder structure of the following:

Video > TV Show > Season 1 > Episode 1.mp4

Comes out as just

Season 1 > Episode 1.mp4

Because the "TV show" folder does not contain a video file itself it doesnt show up at all and every subfolder is put into the root. This presents a problem if you have many shows/video files. It is more organised and easier to navigate in its original folder structure.

Connect via network shares instead of media servers.

Ok that did the trick, unfortunately I noticed that navigating with network share is much slower than with media centre. Is this typical?

Shouldn't be and I don't see a reason why it would.
