Hi,

I have been looking on the forums but keep finding conflicting information.

I have a WDTV PLAY device which doesnt seem to play any H264 video files (yiffy torrents)

Does anyone know if WD intend to update the firmware to allow this device to play h264?

Do any of the other WD devices such as WDTV Live play h264 files?

Thanks

Shaw

Should play with no problems. How are you trying to play...local USB...Plex...?

My WDTV Live SMP plays pretty much anything.

I'm also no stranger to YIFY movie torrents.

He said WDTV PLAY not LIVE. The PLAY does H264 but no MPEG2, DTS, network shares.

There's no reason why the Play shouldn't play x.264/mp4 files.

He specifically named YIFY torrrents which are almost all mp4 (with the occasional mkv).

Could it be because I am streaming from my PC using PS3 media server?

start here, look through it and see what applies to you and what doesn't.
you may see what the issue is when looking at the specs and what it will and wont do

Code: [Select]
http://www.wdc.com/en/products/homeentertainment/mediaplayers/

and this is the spec page for the play

The Spec states that the PLAY should be fine with MP4 and X264.

For some reason I am getting the unsupported format message.

Any ideas?

Eliminate the media server...can it play the same files from a local USB stick?
If so...the problem is the media server.

Maybe the PS3 media server is having DRM issues?

I know Plex Media server works fine with both my WDTV SMP and my Rokus with the same YIFY torrents you mentioned.

use mediainfo to see if it really is a supported format.
