Guys,

WD is not responding about the next firmware update.  They are aware of the sync issue though and I assume it will be repaired in a future update.  When that happens though is anyone's guess. The sync issue also seems to be dependent on how the video was encoded.  See that threads about this on this site.

We are currently working on a firmware update to address this (and other) bugs.

I got excited when I read about the attention paid to music and playlists.  However, this FW did not fix the fact that the filename is displayed instead of the title tag.

Does anyone else use this to play their music library as well as movies?  I have no issues with my movies, just the title tag during playback of my FLAC files.
You are not the only one, as many of us here are also frustrated by the wrong sorting of album tracks and not displaying ID3 track titles in the selection lists. I get around the sort order by using playlists in every folder.

GuyWD,

Thanks for the heads up. Any idea on when we should expect a new firmware?

I hope you'll forgive me if I sound less than convinced...the WDTV Mini has been released for near a month now and it has some of the fixes we've been asking for on our models so what is the problem?

That's good enough for me.  Thanks Guy.  :)

WDTV LIVE with current official FW > HDMI > DVDO > Sony CRT Projector 150" 16/9 screen.  Toslink audio to Yamaha DTS receiver. No Network set up yet.

The hardware is different, and as we have seen with past updates, fixing somethings can easily mess up others.  It is better for them to take their time and release it when it is ready.  Lots of real world testing needs to be done to ensure the greatest amount of compatibility.  That fact they acknowledge they are still working on it is great news for everyone, and shows a lot of responsibility from such a large company with so many newer products.  Try getting even Vista drivers for an old scanner.  Most companies abandon their products as soon as the cycle is over.

The only way that Western Digital is going to prove that they are actually working on the problems is to release something.  Most of us have been on the computer scene long enough to know that lots of promised software (and hardware) projects never get released despite promises of "real soon now" and announced release dates. I'm not saying it's vaporware, but only a release of new firmware can silence the critics.

That's good news!! One question though, when he says "product update" would that be a new device or a firmware update?

No details on the next release, but i think it could be one of the last update as WD will certainly focus on other products...

It's all about the polygon count!
I don't have any sync issues, I guess I'm lucky. I'm using the newest WDLXTV FW.
8GB Sandisk USB Memory + Apple USB Ethernet adapter -> WDTV(FW: WDLXTV 0.5.6.1) -> HDMI(1080P, 24Hz mode) to Samsung LE32A336, Toslink to JVC TH-SW9, LAN to switch to computer with 1TB + 500GB discs and a NFS Server
