I have a partitioned 250GB 2.5" hard drive. 1 Partition is NTFS, the other is HFS+ Journaled I use for Time Machine backups for my Macbook. When I plug it into the WD TV, WD TV attempts to scan HDD (LED flashes) and then WDTV locks up after 1 minute. The only thing I can do is power cycle the WD TV removing the HDD prior to powering up.

I have reformatted the HDD to have both partitions as NTFS - and WD TV works fine. Sees both partions and can play movies. Reformat second partition to HFS+ (J) and WD TV ignores partion 2 (nothing in it), sees the 1st partition and can play movies. I then Time Machine backup to partition 2. Plug it back into WD TV and locks it up every time. It seems as though WD TV does not like the file name and/or structure. Folder name in Time Machine is always BACKUP.backup
This appears to be a bug. Please fix. Thanks.
