Naglya

Ext3 tries to verify the static ip by pinging your router with six packets. If your router does not answer than it assumes the ip is invalid.

Make sure your router is configured to answer ping requests.

Also some time might be necessary between the address assignment and the ping check. I do not know how to organize this pause for this wireless mod.

I am using DHCP and my dongle gets address both with this and Zorander's wireless mods.

BTW, error messages in your messages.txt are present in mine as well. They are really normal.

Speed problems with wifi network...

Hi,

I have a d-link dsl-g624t and my wdtv with wdlxtv v1.02.10, wirless-mod-rt.app.bin v1.3, samba.app.bin v1.2 and a linksys wusb600n (Ralink rt2870 chipset)...

The wdtv works fine, but the transference rate is too low, 1Mbps aprox...

It's possible performance the network wifi modifiing RTS Threshold or Fragmentation parameters????

Or changing any parameters of the net.config file???

Code: [Select]
WIRELESS PERFORMANCE SETTINGS (D-Link DSL-G624T)

DTIM Period : 25 (range:1~25,default:2)
Hidden SSID : Disable
Antenna transmit power : Full
RTS Threshold : 4096
Frag Threshold : 4096

Code: [Select]

WLAN_CFG=RT2870STA.dat
WLAN_LOAD=rt2870sta.ko
WLAN_UP=yes
WLAN_SLEEP=1
HOST=wdtv
MTU=9000
DHCP=yes

Thanks.

Could you share your configuration files with me and tell wich firmware do you have?

It would be fine if you use http://pastebin.com/

Thank U in advance.

It's possible performance the network wifi modifiing RTS Threshold or Fragmentation parameters????

RTS Threshold : 4096
Frag Threshold : 4096
b/g Mode : G+
4x : Enabled

Edit the RT2870STA.dat file and modify the RTSThreshold and FragThreshold parameters.

Maybe turn off G+/4x?

every idea is appreciated

hmmm.. is this hex or ascii? can't tell as it's all numbers, but no A-F characters.

try using 64bit WEP as I've been told that it works with 64bit (thanks zcorp!)

I am still fighting my wireless stability problem.
Could you please suggest some good way to fully restart the wireless without a full WDTV reboot? I tried a combination of:

rmmod rt73
insmod /apps/wireless-mod-rt/modules/rt73.ko

but it did not help >:(. iwlist scan just shows no networks in range and 0 signal level.
Sure I can just cron the reboot command but I hate this approach and will use it only as a last resort.

hmm... I'm starting to think these disconnects are something to do with the dhcp and firmware.

which firmware are you guys using?

Mine is on 1.02.10
ext3-boot release 0.9.2
Driver RT2570.ko

Connection drops every 10-20 minutes. Power cycling reconnects.

Thanks
Amit

Hi SmartP,

Mine is very unstable yet. 5-10-20 minutes and it disconnects.

If I compile the latest drivers from rt2x00.serialmonkey.com.. will that do any good?

Thanks
Amit

Hi all,

Bought a D-Link DWL-G122 off eBay as it appeared to be in the supported wireless adapters list (albeit awkward to configure).

I'm running 1.02.10_B-RAD.CC_WDLXTV-0.5.5 on my WDTV and have followed instructions outlined in the original post but just can't get it working!

....

I've just noticed I was following the instructions outlined for "D-Link DWA-140, rt2870" whereas I'm just after noticing the DWL-G122 is in the table as the top as:

Product  - Chipset    - USB ID    - 2.4/5ghz/Max    - Speed/CPU - Source
DWL.G122 - PRISM_A021 - 2001:3703 - only 2.4ghz b/g - WEP64/128 - forum

Gonna try again later but just to clarify, what instructions should I be looking at? Balls.. just after noticing it only supports WEP. I'm using WPA2 on my routers and all wireless devices around my house! :(

hi TON & amitkr,

can you try this version?

http://www.mediafire.com/file/e2ijzblmxoy/wireless-mod-rt.app.bin-1.31.zip

I've turned of BbpTuning as suggested here.

rmmod rt73
insmod /apps/wireless-mod-rt/modules/rt73.ko

try "ifdown rausb0" and "ifup rausb0" before and after those statements?

If I compile the latest drivers from rt2x00.serialmonkey.com.. will that do any good?

Dunno - you're more than welcome to try. I got lots of error when I tried to compile them as they're written for a later version of the linux kernel (needs to be backported I think).

If there is no line with 'wlan' in it in messages.txt.0, does that mean that my usb-device is not supported?

I've turned of BbpTuning as suggested here.

I have bought a new dongle with Zydas chipset and it is now undergoing the field test:). But I will most certainly try your new version if this field test fails.

I have already looked at the site you refer to. I do not think it is related to my problems. If you remember I tried to reboot my router and change my router channel. The dongle managed to reconnect in both cases. My best guess is some memory corruption.

If I compile the latest drivers from rt2x00.serialmonkey.com.. will that do any good?

I tried to compile the last legacy drivers from serialmonkey for rt73 chipset. It compiled ok without any complains but I could not use it. It complained about missing firmware and I had copies both in /lib/firmware and /etc/firmware. After that it just crashed with misalignment error and kernel stack dump. I believe I could deal with the firmware but I do not have any experience with MIPS to try to find out why that misalignment occured.

smartP, thanks a lot for your support.
