Thanks for the effort of updating the rt73 driver without debug messages. It's much better now. :)

I have a little question. I have noticed a warning in messages.txt

I just wonder if it's only a useless information message, or if there is something in your drivers that could be possibly improved.
Thank you, keep up the great work.

hmmm.... I'm not sure, but maybe you could try this sample RT2870STA.dat that came with the source. Has a few extra settings like ChannelGeography and CountryCode. Might want to try with Channel=0 (auto)?

Jan  1 00:00:53 wdtv user.debug kernel: rausb0 (WE) : Driver using old /proc/net/wireless support, please fix driver !

In zoranders version of drivers, I can't find that message.

Yeah, it looks like it's using an old deprecated way of accessing data. It's okay, but there's comment about support for /proc/net/wireless being dropped in future kernels.

Since the WDTV is still using the old 2.6.15 kernel I don't think you need to worry about it too much. Zorander's driver source must be different to mine (I'm using the official ralink ones here)

Hi,

tried a RT3070 based Stick today but had no luck.

Update:
RT3070 Stick is up and running! thx for the driver support.

What made it to connect?
Disabled the encryption on the router and connected one time without encryption.
Changed back on WPA-PSK encryption. And everything is working!

First of all, thank you, smartP, for bringing this to us.

It seems that i am the first who is trying an adapter with rt2500.ko driver (Linksys WUSB54G).
I have no experience with linux, but i think i did strictly the things you descriped in your first post:

- intstall ext3-boot 0.9.2
- copy wireless-mod-rt.app.bin to the usb stick
- created RT2500STA.dat
with this content
Code: [Select]
[Default]
AdhocOfdm=0
CountryRegion=0
WirelessMode=0
TXBurst=0
TurboRate=0
BGProtection=0
ShortSlot=0
#TxBurst=0
#TxPreamble=2
TxRate=0
PSMode=CAM
SSID=test
NetworkType=Infra
Channel=1
AuthMode=OPEN
EncrypType=NONE
#DefaultKeyID=1
#Key1=
#Key2=
#Key3=
#Key4=
#WPANONE=
#WPAPSK=something
#RTSThreshold=2312
#FragThreshold=2312
PSMode=CAM
#RFMON=0
#StaWithEtherBridge=0

- edited my config.net
Code: [Select]
HOST=wdtv
DHCP=yes

WLAN_CFG=RT2500STA.dat
WLAN_LOAD=rt2500.ko
WLAN_UP=yes
WLAN_SLEEP=1

But the adapter seems not to connect to the network.
Here the messages.txt

I have testet many things, wpa on/of, different settings and so on --> no success.
I do not find any hint in the gui regarding network: Should there any settings or info for network with the ext3-boot 0.9.2.?
maybe we can solve this togeter, hope you have any ideas... ;)

I've also got a Linksys WUSB54G which I hope to try to get working at some point.
Mine is a Linksys WUSB54G v2.  I hope you get it working!

Ok, thanks again.

So you are using ralink official (not mantained anymore) released drivers?
Isn't it possible to use the newer "rt2x00 Open Source Project" ones? Or they cannot be used with the wdtv kernel version?

Looks like that vid/pid is in the list of supported devices for the rt2570.ko driver.
Can you try that driver instead of the rt2500.ko driver?

Yes, because the rt2x00 ones have removed support for the *.DAT files.
The rt2x00 drivers rely on wpa_supplicant and iwtools to configure the wlan devices, which I haven't been able to reliably get a connection with. :(

I tried it with t2570, but still no success.
Booting fails with both drivers... (with WDLXTV 0.5.3.2 )  :-[

The power light of the adapter is on, the wlan light not. (no blinking at at all)
With WDLXTV 0.5.3.2 i get no logfile (log-saver.app.bin is on the stick), so i have not idea, what to try next....
