pretty cool to see they're taking the media playing products seriously but no way I'd buy a stripped down version of the WDTV. I stream all my media from my PC anyways so no reason to have an internal 2TB drive. For some I know this may be nice, but not when you have 10TB of media. Kinda wish they would just focus on developing their software more instead of continuously releasing additional hardware. A new interface and some additional features would do wonders for their sales. I know popbox was a huge flop, but Boxee Box is gonna be released a few months and could potentially take awhile a good chunk of their customer base.

Actually this is not a good news to old WDTV holder. Every time they release a new product, the new firmware development for old one stops although they are still saying "developing".

I wish WD would get back to building bigger hard drives.

These wimpy 2TB babies are getting old.

Lolz, no HDMI at all... wtf?
Build one with everything goddamit. HDMI, internal storage, 1080 playback, ethernet, wireless, and a small form factor and you've got a winner. Oh, and better bl**dy codec support.

Was all ready to recomend this to lots of my friends, until I spotted, it doesn't support DTS !!!!!!!!

IMHO, that is a massive fail and makes it worthless.

Maybe the WD TV Live Hub will make it over to the UK, at least that supports DTS

Yeah I'm jumping ship, I wanted a mediaplayer to do just that play my media. without the DTS HD passthrough this device just isn't complete. beside the buggy network connections and the ability to play my Blurays from folder, the lack of the passthrough has been my biggest compliant.  I'm now waiting to receive my Dune Smart to see how it goes.

The Elements Play will pass DTS through HDMI and Optical.  It will pass the 5.1 core out of a DTS-MA 7.1 signal.

What it won't do is downmix DTS to stereo.

note my post refers to passing the DTS HD formats which includes DTS-HD MA, DTS-HD HR not core/ downmix sorry if my post was confusing
