Title: mkv-cropping-parameters
Post by: trude_hair on October 27, 2009, 11:04:36 PM
MKV provides the possibility to add a cropping-information, so one can "apply" a crop to a video after encoding, which is a great feature - can't you make your firmware respect that information and crop the video?

here a link to the technical specification:

http://matroska.org/technical/specs/index.html#PixelCropBottom

i'm not sure how it behaves in combination with the display-size though - whether the video is FIRST resized to the display-size and THEN cropped - or the other way around.

anyway, i know many people want many features - i still think this would be a nice one to have. these days i crop borders resulting of the whole overscan issue, my old video files however still have black borders, getting rid of them just my remuxing them into the mkv-format instead of re-encoding them would be a dream!!!

1 and I would add multiple parameter bars in the editor like most hosts have. so much for fun when you want to edit various parameters.
