Title: Best online site for SRT subtitle files?
Post by: Monteplus3 on September 08, 2009, 04:08:04 AM
When I backup a BD to hard disk, I use Clown BD to get to the SUP file and then convert them to SRT using suprip.  Does anyone have a suggestion for the best online site to download these files already converted?  Will it work just as well as the tedious process I normally go through?  Thanks!

As I'm Dutch, I often check :

http://www.subtitlesnl.com/ (http://www.subtitlesnl.com/)

For other languages, you might wanna check this :

http://subscene.com/ (http://subscene.com/)

and I'm sure there are a lot more sites. Just google for it.

Thanks....after checking around on the search engines I do believe the subscene site is the best.

I've noticed that most every subtitle file I try to mux is off sync with the video...after hit and miss (sometimes trying four or five different files) I usually finally find one that syncs. I have found it easier to just use Clown to extract the sup file and then convert it to srt and mux that file with the video and audio I converted with MeGUI.  As time consuming as this is, it is easier than trying one file after another to find one that will work.

I use subtitles in different languages almost regularly depending on who I'm watching a movie with (mostly english, spanish, french, macedonian, bosnian/serbian/croatian, slovenian). I find the following sites best (in order of preference):

- http://www.podnapisi.net/ (http://www.podnapisi.net/) - good for almost any language, especially english, romance languages and south slavic languages;
- http://www.subdivx.com/ (http://www.subdivx.com/) - excellent for spanish (both castellano and espanol latino);
- http://www.opensubtitles.org/ (http://www.opensubtitles.org/) - good for many languages, very reliable for english.

The best site is definately www.all4divx.com (http://www.all4divx.com)

This site crawls all those mentioned and then some, in one convenient search engine

The sites quoted by you have the annoying custom of employing popups/unders along with displaying tons of ads.
Same things happened with allsubs.org (http://allsubs.org): it lately became hardly usable because of all the ads.

What I use is subscene.com (http://subscene.com) and subsmax.com (http://subsmax.com): they have decent to good results and use ads sparingly.

I use FireFox with NoScript and AddBlock Plus and have no issues on that site (or any others).  Thanks for this site Evilantal.
