Title: Playing video from command-line (WD TV Live gen3)
Post by: nicod on May 11, 2014, 03:16:56 AM

I want to use a WD TV Live Gen3 in a demo and testing setup as an hdmi video source. To do this I need to be able to start and stop a video either from the command line (through an ssh connection) or perhaps through a web api.  I tried installing custom firmware on a usb stick (2.01.86-EXT3_Palace_Plus-0.0.8) but it looks like the whole front-end and processing of video is handled inside the DMARender application (correct me if I'm wrong).
Is there any way to start a video without using the OSD application?

I tried using DLNA but I can't find a simple linux-based command-line dlna controller and playing movies from dlna seems a bit shaky (altough this could have been a problem with my dlna server too)
