Title: Issues with USB
Post by: ncbghbb on April 18, 2014, 05:54:03 AM
I am having issues playing blu-ray rips made via makemkv. They keep stuttering or cutting out on my WDTV SMP. This is *only* when connected via USB. When connected over my LAN, I have no problems. Does anyone have any ideas?

Getting to be a pain.

Thanks

Front or back USB?
Wasn't there a problem with external HDDs connected to the front?

Solved on 2.01.86 and it was the back port.

I tried both USB ports on the WDTV.

I then connected it back to my PC & it works perfectly (over lan). So there must be an issue with the wdtv?

Not necessarily, PCs can play more bad files than a standalone, especially software like VLC.

I think you misunderstand. i'm not playing the videos on my pc. I'm streaming them from my pc to the wdtv and watching on the wdtv. And when I connect to the wdtv that way, everything plays fine, whereas if I connect directly by usb it doesn't.

Usually it's the other way round. You should check the HDD for failures and defragment it.
