Title: Android app: more than a remote??
Post by: Symbiot on February 04, 2012, 11:34:15 PM
Hi

is there an app for android that will let me control my wdtvlive, start, stop files etc?

I've only seen apps that act as a remote... I still need my TV on... I want to avoid that..

basically I am considering buying a logitech squeezebox to be able to play music on my stereo without having to turn on the tv.... but my wdtv would do just nicely if I could avoid the TV having to be turned on..

any suggestions?

Try zappotv.  I use it on my ipod and it works great.  Allows you to browse to your local (computer located files) play from shoutcast and more.  Very nice app IMO.

And this will allow me to start a song on my wdtv live hub?

it seems more like a streaming agent?

It streams from the net but also streams from my computer.  I would think you want music from your computer sent to your Home Stereo?????  If so, this does it.

I want to be able to start a given music track ON my wdtv, VIA my wdtv, through my stereo...

basically... get an android version of the WDTV skin.. I guess.. where I can click music, album.->track number.. Play..

There is an app called WD TV live media player, you can download it free. It works well with WD TV live with latest firmware.
